Day by Day Itinerary
Departure: Daily
Day 01: Arrival in Guiyang
Arrive in Guiyang and get prepared. Stay overnight at a local hotel.
Day 02: Guiyang - Jichang - Guiyang
Drive for 1.5 hours to reach Jichang Village. Women here are still dressed in traditional Ming dynasty costumes, and houses remain faithful to the Ming architectural styles. The ancient stone house, lots of legend story, warm-hearted people, and their lovely smile will leave you an unforgettable experience. Enjoy a local Ground Opera performance, famed for the performers' symbolic masks, the opera in Jichang dates to 1382, during the Ming Dynasty. It is said as one of the oldest operas of the world, which is still surviving. Later take the afternoon to walk around and explore nearby old Han village. Drive back to Guiyang this afternoon.
Day 03: Guiyang - Xiaba - Dazhai Village
Watch the waist-drum dancing in Wenchang Pavilion Square. Leave Guiyang to explore villages around Xiaba. Hike through the Damochong Valley, an area of quaint villages, dense bamboo groves, and clear streams. Stop along the way and learn about the art of traditional paper-making.
Day 04: Dazhai - Yandi - Guiyang
Spend the morning exploring Dazhai Village, an enchanting maze of old wooden houses amongst green paddy fields. Afterwards take a 3 hours hike through this area of quaint mountain villages and reach Yandi White Miao Village. Pay a visit to the local family and chat with the people. Drive back to Guiyang in the afternoon.
Day 05: Guiyang - Leishan - Maomaohe
Drive 3 hours (2 hours highway, 1-hour county road) to Leishan county, center of the Miao culture in South-east Guizhou. Hike for half an hour before reach Maomaohe Village, which is known for its Long-Skirt Miao, a subgroup of Miao ethnic minority group. Local people will give you their warm welcome ceremony. Have dinner with local people and gain a better understanding of life and customs in their area.
Day 06: Maomaohe - Paika - Datang - Guiyang
Drive to Paika Village via Leishan. Hiking in Paika Village for 0.5 hour, you may feel as though you are idling along a corridor of landscape paintings of limestone pinnacles set against terraced rice fields and picturesque villages. In the afternoon, visit Datang Village, inhabited by Short-Skirt Miao, a subgroup of Miao ethnic minority group. Datang is well known for its beautiful dancing and singing performances. Return to Guiyang in the late afternoon.
Day 07: Departure from Guiyang
Leave Guiyang according to your own schedule.
