5 Days of Jinghong - Manbeng Village - Manla Village - Medeng Village - Menglun Town - Jinghong - Mandian Waterfall

On the morning of your first day, take a minibus to Olive Dam. You may refer to the last itinerary to find the way to the Olive Dam. When you reach there, start to hike. Remember to find a local person who is familiar with hiking there as your guide. Go along the hastily built road in the countryside to the southeast, you will pass through a large field of rice and numerous villages of Dai ethnic minority. You will enjoy the enchanting scenery of the country and the Dai people's hospitality. Spend tonight at the Manbeng Village on the Mekong River bank. Today, you need to walk for about 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) and it will take you 5-6 hours.

On your second day, you will travel on foot from the Manbeng Village to the Manla Village. During this journey of 15 kilometers (9.3 miles), you will encounter the dense tropical rainforest and the fresh air there so that you will be close to nature as never before. After 3-4 hours' walking, accommodate yourself at the mountain village of minorities. You will have a chance to experience a simple way of life and the unique ethnic customs.

On the third day, walk from the Manla Village to the Medeng Village. You need to tramp through the jungle and go along the "hunter's path". The path is as long as 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) and it will take you 5-6 hours. You are strongly suggested to hire a local guide to lead the way. Stay overnight at Medeng Village.

On your fourth day, ambulate for about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) to Menglun Town. It will take you about 2-3 hours on the way. After arriving at Menglun Town, you can take part in the rafting along the Luosuo River which will be a good choice to have a fully relaxed feeling after such a long travel. Take a coach back to Jinghong. You need to spend about 1.5 hours on the way and it will cost you CNY14.00.

On the fifth day, take a taxi or charter a car to the Mandian Village firstly. Since it is located about 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) southwest of the Jinghong City, it will take you about 30 minutes to get there. It will probably charge you about CNY50 per car. Then walk into the valley, go through the rainforest and cross a small bridge. Various types of plants are grown here, multiform. After one-hour walking, you will reach the Mandian Waterfall and the entrance ticket will charge you CNY5. This waterfall is about 15 meters (49 feet) wide and the vertical distance is about 25 meters (82 feet). The river falls in a series of cascade down towards the lake and a booming voice can be heard. Overlooking the valley, you will see the water mist. Occasionally, the pearl-like water sprays are jumping in it. Visiting there in May or October will achieve the most beautiful sight. Transfer back to Jinghong and your tour ends.
