Different Geological Landscapes

5 Days Lijiang - Dali - Tengchong - Dieshuihe Waterfall - Rehai Park - Beihai Wetland park - Heshun village - Volcanic Park

On the first day, take a bus at Lijiang Passenger Transport Center (Telephone: 0888-5122536) to go to Dali. It takes about 3.5 hours to get there and the bus fare is between 35RMB and 50RMB per person. The buses are available in every 30 minutes from 7:00 in the morning to 18:30. You are suggested to stay at Golden Dali Hotel (Address: North Canglang Road, Xiaguan Economic Development Zone, Dali; Telephone: 0872-2191888). Explore this old city in the afternoon to appreciate its local cultural and the beautiful scenery.

On the morning of the second day, go to Dali bus terminal to take a bus to Tengchong. During the day, there are 5 buses between these two places. And the latest bus of the day departures before 15:00. Generally, it takes 6-7 hours to get to Tengchong from Dali. And the bus fare is about 70RMB. Upon arrival, find a local hotel to stay overnight preparing for your next day's hiking.

On the third day, go to visit the Dieshuihe waterfall which located at the county area of Tengchong. The admission fee is 20RMB. Then take a special tour bus at Tengchong county to get to Rehai Park (Admission fee: 30RMB) which is about 12.5km away from the county. The bus fare is 5RMB per person. Rehai Park is well known for its geothermal energy. You can have a bath in a hot spring pool to experience the authentic geothermal water there. There are 64 geothermic activity areas and 80 hot spring groups in this park and the highest heat of water here is 96.3 cent degree. Return to the county by bus before evening.

On the fourth day, take a bus at the bus station to go to the Beihai Wetland park (Admission park: 40RMB) which is at a distance of about 12km from the county. It takes about 25 minutes to get there and the bus fare is 5RMB. After reaching there, you can boating on the lake, the fee is 8RMB to 15RMB. (Tips: In order not to get your clothes wet, you had better prepare slippers, shorts and towel for you. Also, you can rent a pair of rain shoes in the park.) In the afternoon, return to the county and take a taxi to Heshun village (Admission fee: 30RMB). This village is 3km away from Tengchong county and the taxi fare is about 10RMB. Here you can see the biggest peasants' library of China, the local-flavored architectures, the Yuanlong pavilion and so on. Come back to the county before evening.

On the fifth day, take a bus at Tengchong West Bus Terminal to get to the Volcanic Park (Admission fee: 30RMB) which is 25km from the county. The bus fare is about 10RMB. Get out off the bus at Ma bus station. Then walk 1km according to the road sign to reach the gate of the park. After entering into the park, walk another 10 minutes to arrive at the foot of Dakong Hill. After about 30 minutes' climbing, you can get to the peak of Dakong Hill. Or you can take the cable car instead. The Mianjing pavilion at the east direction of the peak of Dakong Hill is the best place to appreciate the scenery there. Return to the county in the afternoon.

The Tiger Leaping Gorge area is a place I always wanted to trek in. This Autumn, this dream nearly came true. I was in Lijiang and was ready to go. But it started to
rain. Temperature suddenly dropped 45 Fahrenheit. Both entry to the Tiger Leaping Gorge in Lijiang and Shangri-La closed. If anyone also wants visit there,
choose a better time.
