Hall of Supreme Harmony Pictures

The Hall of Supreme Harmony (also known as the Throne Room) was the place where important ceremonies, such as an emperor’s wedding, were held in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Being the largest and highest hall in the Forbidden City, with a platform in front, it occupies 2,377 square meters. On the platform, a sundial, a Jialiang (a measuring vessel), a pair of tortoises, cranes, and eighteen vessels can be seen. Inside it stands 72 pillars of which seven are entwined by dragons.
