Brief Introduction

As the national carrier of the Kingdom of Thailand, the history of Thai Airways International can be traced back as early as the 1950s. In 1951, the Thai Government purchased the shares of three private airways, merged them into one, and renamed it Thai Airways Company (abbreviated as TAC), which is the predecessor of Thai Airways International. Later, in 1960, allied with Scandinavian Airlines System, the government started business in the international market with the name Thai Airways International, allowing TAC to operate domestic routes as an independent company. The two companies merged in the 1980s, which marks a turning point for the development of Thai Airways International.

With Bangkok as the core hub, routes of Thai Airways International have radiated to 77 destinations in 34 countries throughout the world. With a fleet of 74 aircraft, its passengers have exceeded 16 million. Its slogan, 'Smooth as silk', creates in its attentive staff an assiduous commitment to the improvement of safety, comfort and overall health of passengers.

Destinations of Thai Airways International in China include: Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Kunming, Hong Kong, Xiamen, Shanghai Taipei and Kaohsiung.
