Thank you for your inquiry.

Train schedule could be changed by Railway Company during different seasons. Currently, there are 2 high speed rides and one overnight sleeper ride to Xi'an. If the time is not suitable for you, you can consider to make a transfer in Taiyuan first and then to Xi'an. Hope this information can help you.

If you refer to this K695 at 11:32pm, it only stop at Yanggao before it reaches Datong. It is the final stop of K695, never worried about missing it.

When should we be at the train station?
How much time before our train leaves should we be at Datong Railway Station? Is it really necessary to be there an hour before the train leaves?

Thanks for your answers!

They also told me to get there 1 or 1.5 hours before the departure time. If you meet a long queue for the collection, 1 hour is very necessary. If you are lucky to find a short queue, maybe 10min is good for ticket collection. It is hard to say. I decide to do my ticket collection the day before to avoid this uncertainty and we can only go to the station 40min before departure.
