Huangshan City is a region with a long history and splendid cultures. Shexian and Yixian Counties were established more than 2,000 years ago. In the Jin Dynasty (265-420) Huangshan City was called Xin'an Shire. Until the Song Dynasty (960-1279) when the name was changed to Huizhou, the city was famed for Hui businessmen, Hui carvings, Xin'an school of painting, Xin'an medicine, Hui architecture, Hui cuisine, and Hui opera (one of the tonalities of Beijing Opera). Also notable are the scenic spots of Yellow Mountain (Mt. Huangshan) - a key point of interest in ancient China, the Tangyue Memorial Archway, the Tunxi Ancient Street and the ancient villages of Yixian County . Historians at home and abroad regard Huangshan City as a natural history and culture museum of China.
Since Huangshan City is a tourist city with a pleasant climate, travel plans need not be interrupted by weather. So the sights of Huangshan City, such as Tunxi Ancient Street, Xidi, and Hongcun Ancient Villages, Tangyue Archways, Flower Mountain and Enigma Caves can be visited throughout the year as can Yellow Mountain with each season offering different appealing features.
Huangshan City transportation is efficient. Upgraded airline, railway, highway and the city transportation expedite tour travel. Also available are various grades of hotels, restaurants, and recreation and shopping centers in Huangshan City. Be sure to try Hui dishes, snacks and local products and especially the memorable Mt. Huangshan tea.

I will be in Xiamen next month (Dec) and I am thinking of a trip to Huangshan. Any tips -- transportation, lodging, number of days, costs?
Nov. 18,2009 20:16
Mr.Hank replied:
You could take a flight or a train from Xiamen to arrive in downtown Huangshan City firstly. Here, please catch a bus or a taxi to reach the Mt. Huangshan Scenic Area in one hour. You could stay one night on the mountain, where several hotels are opened. 2~3 days will be ok for visiting the mountain.

Hi, i am visiting Huang Shan with my girlfriend this coming January, i been researching but still cant figure out something, so would like to have some advice from you guys.
1.We are flying from Malaysia to Hangzhou. From there there should be coaches/bus to reach Huang Shan right? Can i know the price and maybe the schedule.. So we wont miss our buses.
2.After Huang Shan we decide to visit Harbin, so what the best option for us to save cost?
Should we buy round way ticket from KL - Hangzhou & Huangshan to Harbin? I trying to find way to save cost, so anyone got any advice please let me know
Nov. 6,2009 02:55
Mr.Shan replied:
1. At Hangzhou West Bus Station, there are coaches departing to Mt. Huangshan Scenic Area directly, respectively at 08:00, 10:30, 10:50, 12:40, 14:10 and 15:10. The fare is about 100RMB/person. It is suggested that you purchase the bus ticket one day in advance.
2. Huangshan is so far from Harbin, so it is suggested that you firstly return to Hangzhou or Shanghai from Mt. Huangshan by bus. Afterwards, you could take a flight to Harbin directly.
Harbin is close to Beijing, where could be reached by train or flight easily. So, if the air fare is reasonable as well, I think you could return to KL from Beijing Capital Airport.

Hi, how much does it cost for porter to carry travellers on the rattan chairs? Our itinerary includes cable car up/down but there is still some climbing which may be too tiring for my aged friends. Thanks

Mr.Leo replied:
As I know, the fare is CNY100/rattan chair at most, which is required by the Management Committee of the Scenic Spat of Mt. Huangshan. You could find the price table when you get there.

May I know how much is the entrance fee to Huangshan in January and its validity? I decide to stay 1 night in the hotel at the top of the mountain and the following night in the hotel in the Hot spring scenic area which is located at the foot of Huangshan after the Main entrance of Huangshan. Do I need to pay the entrance fee again when I go up to Huangshan from the hotel at the Hot spring scenic area?
Besides, is there any buses depart to Jiuhuashan from Tangkou everyday?
Thank you.
Sep. 29,2009 01:38
Mr.Leo replied:
The entrance fee is CNY150/person, should be valid~ And, I think you don't have to purchase ticket again if you stay at one of the hotels in the hotel spring scenic area.
Yes, everyday 06:10, there is one bus departing from Mt. Huangshan to Jiuhuashan directly. The fare is CNY41.

I will be arriving at the Huangshan train station about mid-morning. What is the best way to get from there to the Yungu Hotel?
Sep. 11,2009 21:48
Mr.Sam replied:
Hi, the Huangshan Train Station is located in the downtown area of Huangshan City. And, the Yungu Hotel is located in the Mt. Huangshan Scenic Area, which is about one hour by bus from Huangshan City. So, when you arrive at the railway station, you have to transfer to a bus firstly~
