When is the Best Time to Go on Holiday to Algeria?

Algeria has a subtropical Mediterranean climate. It will be hot from May to September and the temperature can be up to 55 °C (131℉) in some places. Therefore, the best travel time in Algeria is from October to the next May.

Do I Need a Visa for Algeria Holiday Packages?

In addition to the 7 visa-exemption countries, including Libya, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Seychelles, Tunisia, people from the other countries will all need a visa to visit Algeria. You need to apply for the visa from your local Algerian embassy or consulate in advance and the validity of your passport should be over 6 months from the date of your entry. The visa waiver allows a stay of up to 90 days and people also need a passport valid for more than 6 months. By the way, please kindly note that Israelis are forbidden to enter or transit in Algeria.

Are There any Preparation I Need to Make before Visiting Algeria?

What is the Currency in Algeria?

The official currency in Algeria is Algerian dinar. You may exchange money at the airport, local bank, post office, hotel and money exchange center. The exchange rate varies from place and place. Please kindly note that the bank might collect some handling fee for exchanging money. In addition, please remember to take your passport when exchanging money.

Is Tipping Customary in Algeria?

Tipping is not compulsory in Algeria, but taxi drivers, hotel staffs and luggage porters are highly expected to be tipped. For your information, the tip for the driver is around 10% of the total cost; for the luggage porter is 1 Dinar for each piece of luggage; for the hotel staff or restaurant server is 5%-10%. This is just for your reference. You may tip them more or less based on your judgement of their service.
