I am a Burundi passport holder. Since I will be transiting in Hong Kong, I intend to stay there for a few days, I'd also like to visit mainland PRC at the same time. My question is, can I get my Chinese visa in Hong Kong. This is my first time applying for it, and I heard that I have to go back to Malaysia if this is my first time; otherwise, I have the chance of it if I am applying in Hong Kong. Please kindly advice. Thank you!

 Answered by Ms. Hebe
As I know, it is possible to apply for it at the commission of the ministry of foreign affairs of P.R.C in HKSAR, even though it is your first-time application if only you can provide all the necessary documents. At the same time, if you can’t get it by yourself, you may turn to a travel agency for help.

I am a South African Citizen working in China with a South African passport. My wife is a Burundi citizen staying with me on my Z type one. Does she need one when we go to Disneyland in Hong Kong? We are only staying for one day.

Hi, I am not sure where you live, but you are suggested to apply through a vise agency or a travel agency if necessary.

Hi Kit, there is no official reference online, so you'd better contact and apply through a travel agency for details.

Burundi visa for HKSAR Passport holders
According to the HKSAR Government website, HKSAR passport holders do not need it for up to 14 days. However, when I entered by road at the Ruhwa border last month, I was asked to pay for a visa. The immigration staff there even called Bujumbura to verify and they were unaware of the exemption. Would you mind verifying this information? Thanks!

Hi Joseph, you may misunderstand the requirements by HK Gov. website, visa is required, not the visa exemption, it should be the visa-on-arrival you get on the border.
