Hi, Ms. Ho, time may be not enough for you to visit all the popular sites, so you may visit Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven on Dec 12. If your departure time is late on Dec 13, you may visit Summer Palace. As for the hotels, there are many hotels in Beijing, please check this page to choose your preferred: http://www.travelchinaguide.com/hotel/beijing-hotels.htm Hope it helps.

Ms.debbi: There are a great number of hotels in Beijing, but you didn’t mention the general location and star ranking. It’s hard to say. If you travel yourself, you’d better start earlier to avoid traffic jam. Good luck.

Hi Ms Debbie
I would suggest that if you are looking for a hotel, you go online and do it.....we did that when we were in China earlier this year and got amazing discounts!! Dont be too fazed about travel around the city, taxis are REALLY cheap!! One hint though, always take a metered taxi, taxi services in China are not regulated, so anyone with a car and some spare time can offer a taxi service. On average, these guys are approximately 30-50% more expensive than "genuine" taxis. One other thing I noticed.....Chinese people love hard beds, so if you want a softer bed, ask for one when you book. We didnt at the first hotel we stayed at and it was like sleeping on a slab of concrete!!!

Oct. 10,2009 01:05 Mr.Qi replied:
Take Subway Line 2 at Chongwenmen Station nearby the hotel to Jishuitan Station. Get out of the subway station through Northeast Exit and walk a few minutes to the east. Bus Station for Bus 919 is in the north side of the city gate. The bus can take you to Badaling.

The star rating is not that important something clean and safe--It does not have to be fancy--something like a days inn in the USA--would like for it to be near Tiam. Square-or anywhere really in Beijing --as long as it was in short walking distance to a Subway-SO THAT TRAVEL WOULD BE EASY.
also =interested in how to travel to the Great Wall--and ming tombs--what bus or train would one recommend--and the price

Hotels around Tiananmen and the Forbidden City: the Novotel Peach Hotel, the Beijing Hotel, The Emperor (at the east gate of the Forbidden City), the Hilton Beijing Wangfujing (500 meters to the Tiananmen)and the Grand Hyatt Beijing. There are many choices. I think you could refer to http://www.travelchinaguide.com/hotel/beijing-hotels.htm
To the Great Wall, you could take the bus No.919 at Deshengmen, which could be reached by subway Line 2.

Hello Frankie,
Thank you for your help. Since the bus takes one hr to reach Xidan, would the airport train be more convenient to reach downtown ??
Hope to hear from you soon?
Sep. 22,2009 20:28 Mr.Qi replied:
Yes, it is faster to take airport express train, but you need make transfers to Xidan. The airport express train can only take you to Dongzhimen (about 20 minutes). You should change to Subway Line 2 at Dongzhimen and get off at Jianguomen to take another train, Line 1 to Xidan.

Mr. Frankie ...hello,
Your reply is much appreciated. May I know what is the airport shuttle bus number to its terminal at Xidan (16RMB) ? and how long will it take?. May I know how many types of express train or just ordinary train service to Tianjin from Beijing and how much is each ticket - for adult and child ??
I hav heard from friends of a DAI JIA CHUN Resturant in Beijing. Can i know the address and is their meals very expensive ?
Mr. Frankie.... thank you again for your help.

Sep. 19,2009 04:48 Mr.Frankie replied:
Hi, the shuttle bus should be Line 2, which will drive you to Xidan in one hour. Currently, there is only one kind of train from Beijing South Railway Station to Tianjian. It is the express intercity train (start by 'C') which just takes 30 minutes and 56RMB/person. Of course, you could catch a regular train from Beijing Railway Station to Tianjian, which takes about 2 hours and 19RMB.
Is the restaurant should be Dai Jia Cun (傣家村), supplying food from Yunnan Province? This restaurant's average cost is about CNY40~70/person, acceptable~ You could find it at 80, Tiantan Dong Lu (very to the south or east gate of theh Temple of Heaven).

Hi, the place you mentioned is just located to the east of the Forbidden City. So, I think you could take the airport shuttle bus to its terminal at Xidan (16RMB). Then, you could hire a taxi to drive you to the reastaurant in 10 minutes with a fare of about 15RMB. Hope this helps!
