Xiamen mapLocated at the southeast coast of China, Xiamen is a tourist city of Fujian Province famous for its attractive seascape. As one of the major seaports since ancient times, Xiamen boasts a wide gulf with deep water but without freezing and silting. The name of 'Xiamen' was consequently given, which means 'a gate of China'. As one of the forerunners of the special economic zones of China, Xiamen mainly consisting of Xiamen Island, Gulangyu Island, the north bank area of the Jiulong River and Tong'an County, is connected with the mainland by the Gaoji Seawall, Xiamen Bridge, etc. Xiamen has been called the Egret Island because of the hundreds of thousands of egrets inhabiting there. This is due to the beautiful natural scenery, the fresh air and the clean environment of the city.

Hi. We ( 2 adults & 2 kids) are planning a holiday in Xiamen in Dec 09. Can someone advise me which is a better place to see Tulou (Huaan or Yongding area). Also, we heard Wuyishan is a nice place but not sure if the place is open in December. Appreciate if someone can advise. Thank you.

Please go to Yongdina County where you could see more Tulou. The mountain could be visited in Dec, where the weather is mild throughout a year.

Haven't found any Indian restaurant in Xiamen but there are some good restaurants supplying food from southeast Asia. You could find one easily in downtown Xiamen.

No not need to take winter clothes. Xiamen people just wear long-sleeve T-shirt now. In the end of this month, you can take a light jacket and a overcoat. As to food and shopping in Xiamen, this web tells more than I know. :-)

Cab rate is within 50RMB from Xiamen Airport to the city center in Xiamen Island. As to the one day tour: Gu Lang Yu Island from Xiamen Ferry Terminal and get back to Xiamen Island half a day later. Change another ferry to South Putuo. Hotels: www.travelchinaguide.com/hotel/xiamen-hotels.htm

My suggestion: goting by train K8746 (19:04-08:18) for 13 hours. 8 or 9 hours by bus. Train is more safe, comfortable, Cheaper. Here are trains:
