Forbidden City
The Forbidden City in the center of Beijing was the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. This is the world's largest palace complex with 9,999 buildings. The Forbidden City was where the emperor exercised his supreme power and where the royal family lived. Having been the imperial palace for some five centuries, the Forbidden City houses numerous treasures and curiosities and is one of the most popular tourist attractions worldwide. |
