Alvin, well, this is a tricky question because so far I haven't heard of such news. You can contact the embassy to see if they can make a change.

You need to provide a completed and signed application form, valid passport and its photocopy, 2 passport-sized photos, residence permit in China, the admission letter from the school in Malta, and an original receipt issued by the school in Malta which confirms that all courses and accommodation fees and other relevant expenses have been paid in advance, your accommodation arrangement in Malta, a confirmed two-way air ticket reservation, and proof of a travel insurance, as well as notarized copy of the highest educational diploma/certificate, your study certificate, original non-criminal certificate, proof of financial support, and recent 3-month bank statement.
The travel insurance is necessary and it should have a minimum cover of 30,000 Euros.
