 The general information
The independent State of Papua New Guinea is located in the southeast of Pacific Ocean. Its capital is Port Moresby. It is one of the most diverse countries on the earth with over 820 existent languages. It is one of the most rural areas with only 18 percent of the population living in the urban areas. The Papua New Guinea is mostly mountainous and rugged in terrain, which partially obstructed the construction of the transportation iinfrastructure; plane is the only transport means in some areas. The country is one of the least touched and explored place in the world. It is believed that many species of plants and animals are undiscovered in the interior of Papua New Guinea. 

It is the home for the famous bird of paradise. It is estimated there are approximately 40 kinds in the world, of which over 30 kinds of the birds nestled in the remote mountains in Papua New Guinea. They are also named as the sunbird or riflebird. They have the most colorful feathers and the best shape. They are believed to bring happiness and luck to humans.

 The economy of Papua New Guinea
It is a developing country endowed with rich resources. Minerals, petroleum and crops are the leading industries in economy; the main crops include the cacao, coffee, the crude rubber and palm oil.

Tourism takes a certain percentage in the national economy. There is great potentiality for development. There are nearly 200 kinds of frogs, 400 kinds of butterflies and over 700 sorts of birds. Human beings seem to be the ethnic group compared with all the species.

There is also a big collection of coral reefs. The varieties of coral reefs broaden your outlook impressively. The lush rainforest and diverse corals lure at least 30,000 tourists to have a visit here every year.

If you like diving, trekking, exploring different tribal culture or observing wildlife, Papua New Guinea can satisfy you in every aspect. It is doubtless your best choice.

TRANSIT VISA.
I am from Benin and I am traveling to Samoa with my wife. I have a Samoan Temporary Resident Permit. DO I NEED TRANSIT VISA TO TRANSIT IN PNG LESS THAN 8 HOURS ?

I hold a HKSAR passport, do I need a tourist visa to go to PNG for the Mount Hagen Cultural Show ?

Hi, as I know, if you need a visa or not is decided by the relevant local authority when arriving in this country or region. Hence, you will know the result by then.
