The general information

The State of Qatar is located in the Qatar Peninsula along the western coast of Sea Gulf. It is bordered with United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. It is hot and dry. There is no great distinction of the four seasons. There is an approximate population of 900,000. About 70 percent of the people are foreigners mainly from India, Pakistan and Southeast Asia. English is popularly used though Arab is the official language. On September 1, 1971, it gained independence.

Foreigner should get their visas before entering the country, but there is the exception for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The application is handled by the Embassy or the Consulate.

Petroleum and natural gases are the dominant industries in Qatar. In the recent years, more programs have been set to develop oil and gases. It owns the world's largest liquefied natural gas exporting port. What's more, it enhances the economic performance by attracting more foreign investment, introducing advanced technique abroad, opening up stock market, making various regulations and carrying out strategic plans.

 Diplomatic relationship
Qatar advocates the neutral, nonaligned diplomatic policy. They focus on the unity and cooperation of the Islamic countries especially among the Arabic nations. They assert the peaceful way to keep away the differences and maintain the security and stability of the gulf areas. On July 9, 1988, the bilateral relations were set up with China. Ever since the outset, the relations have been dealt smoothly. In April, 2008, the Prime Minister Hamad paid official visit to China and Chinese vice president Xi Jinping had State Visit to Qatar two months later.
