Hello!

I want to travel from Hong Kong to Nanjing by train. Can I go directly from Hong Kong, or should I travel from Shenzhen? Is there a website I can look at?

There is no direct bus between the two places. You need to make a transfer either in Shanghai or Shenzhen. You could search the detailed info at https://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/

Thank you. I did search the schedule a you suggested, But as I read it, there appears to only be one D train. It leaves midday and gets into Hangzhou around 16:00 taking about 4 hours. Is that correct? Are there others that perhaps have a different originating station that we can pick up in Hangzhou and will still only take 4 to 5 hours?

Yes, there is truely only one bullet train and do takes 4 hours to the destination. But the time is not correct. The train number is D5472. You can search again, and confirm. The time should be 7:49-12:06. You can get to the city at noon. This is the fatest train and T50, T7786, T112 may take you there 5 hours later. All in Hangzhou Railway Station.

Well, there are two ways.

1. Firstly, you could take the airport shuttle bus to its the terminal in the city center--Wulinmen. It takes about 50 minutes and 20yuan. From Wulinmen, please take a taxi with a cost of 20~30yuan or a city bus to Hangzhou North Bus Station, where the intercity buses operating at 06:40~19:30 at an interval of about 20 minutes. The fare is 118yuan and the journey is about 4 hours.

2. also take the airport shuttle bus and get off at Hangzhou Railway Station within about 40 minutes. Then, take a train. The fastest trains takes about 4~5 hour on the way. Well, you could search the trains' details at https://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/
