There is no admission fee for Bakhoor Street and there is no time limit where you can sail about freely. If you want to avoid the rush hour to appreciate the tibetan style streets leisurely, get up early and walk with the local tibetans to feel the devotional and tranquil surrounding.
You are expected to stroll clockwise around the Jokhang Temple. You'd better not shopping on the street too late after 6pm. There are lots of alleys within the street, in case you may get lost. For unkown reason, the vendors on the streets belive the older goods could sell at a better price. They often hold the brand new stuff telling you it's very old. There is no problem with their sense, while it is their identification of their goods.
As in any other free market in China, bear in mind to bargin. There are miscellaneous goods on the streets and you must be able to tell the fake ones. Generally the goods on the streets are very cheap. In Tibet, after you settled the price with the seller, you have to buy or you may be in trouble.
Tibetan vendors will give special preference to their first buyer and last buyer of the day. And they will touch their goods with the first buyer's money to expect more treasures.
