Tunxi was named as Xinan and Huizhou in the past, the old city has created a glorious Hui culture in the ancient time, and it is still a prosperous city nowadays.

In the morning, we will go to visit the "Three Houses of Cheng's Family", and the three houses are located in a quite lane of Tunxi city (Address: 6#, 7#, 28# Dongli Lane, Baishu Street, Tunxi). You are suggested to take a rickshaw to get there, and the average cost is CNY2.00 - CNY5.00 per person. The entrance fee is CNY20.00 per person. These houses are the typical representative of civil residences in the late of Ming Dynasty, and the holistic architecture style is exquisite and nimble. These houses are richly ornamented building with the carved beams and painted rafters.

We will let you to visit the Former Residence of Cheng Da Wei, and he is the famous mathematician in ancient China and there is an exhibit of “reckoning by the abacus” including kinds of abacus various from tiny golden to huge rocky. You can take taxi from Three Houses of Cheng's Family to get there, and it will cost you about CNY6.00 - CNY8.00. It opens from 9:00 to 17:00 and entrance fee is CNY10.00 per person.

Tunxi Old Street is a highlight of Tunxi City, and it is a walking street with 1273 meters long. The street was first built in the late Song Dynasty and has a history more than 800 years. There are over 200 old buildings with typical Hui-style and the street was made by the hundreds of one-piece black stones.

Qiankou Old Village, Huangshan

Huizhou District of Tunxi city has many old villages and historical sites, and Qiankou Old Village and Chengkan Old Village are the outstanding representatives among them.

There is no direct bus from Tunxi to Qiankou, and you are suggested to charter a taxi to visit the two villages. The average charge is about CNY200.00 - CNY240.00 per day. It takes you 40 minutes from Tunxi to Qiankou Villlage by car. Qiankou Old Village likes an epitome of civil residences of Ming Dynasty and every old building has its own characters and the oldest one is the Sijian Di - it was built in Yuan Dynasty and has a history more than 1000 years. The entrance fee of Qiankou Village is CNY70.00 per person.

It needs at least 20 minutes driving from Qiankou to Chengkan Old Village. Chengkan Old Village is very famous by it's another name - the Eight Diagrams (Ba Gua) Village. It is the ingenious combination of the Eight Diagrams of nature and the Eight Diagrams of civilization, and also a riddle in the history of Chinese Architectures. The whole village has 3 streets, 99 lanes and more than 300 civil residences, there are 35 old buildings of Ming Dynasty and 122 old building of Qing Dynasty. Ancestral Temple, civil residence, bridge, pavilion and an open-air theatre spread in the village. Among those old buildings, Baolun Ge is the most outstanding one by its artful structure, fancy carved wood and colorful paints. The entrance fee of Chengkan Village is CNY65.00 per person.
