Albania Jeep Safari Trip

Welcome to Albania! Our driver-guide will pick you up from the Tirana International Airport and then transfer you to a decent hotel in the downtown area. After a break, you will enjoy a one-hour walking tour to visit the National Museum, the Mosque, the Clock-Tower and the Skanderbeg Square. Along the way you could see the beautiful view of this friendly city. Strolling on the colorful streets at sunset is also a delight in experiencing nightlife of the capital Tirana.

After breakfast, we make a one-hour drive from Tirana to the medieval city of Kruje, nicknamed “the city of museums”, which is famed for being the hometown of the national hero Gjergj Skanderbeg who resisted against the Turkish invasions and kept the Ottoman forces from crossing into Europe through Albania. We will visit the Ethnographic Museum, also called the Skanderbeg Museum, and then walk around the Old Bazaar selling plenty of wonderful handmade souvenirs.

Next, continue driving 1.5 hours to Shkodra, a pretty city of the northern Albania, which used to be the Illyrian capital in the 3rd century BC. Then we will go on with a highlighted trip to the Rozafa Castle standing majestically on a rocky hill, surrounded by the Buna River and Drin River. Visitors can view the Albanian Alps in the distance and admire the spectacular views of the Lake Skadar in this beautiful countryside. The last stop is the Marubi Photographic Museum which houses many photographic plates illustrating the Albanian traditional lifestyle in the 19th century.

Accompanied by our professional driver guide, you will take an exhilarating safari adventure this morning from Shkodra to the breathtaking National Park of Theth by 4×4 on bumpy roads. On the way we pass by the Theth Valley and stop at Qafe Thore to admire the picturesque views of the region’s mountain peaks. After driving about 3-4 hours, we arrive at the traditional village of Theth and check into a guesthouse.

Depending on your physical condition of the day, it’s open to your choice to continue driving downhills to visit the natural attractions, or you may prefer to walk on the beautiful hiking trails to explore the stunning mountains, lakes, the waterfall and the Canyon of Theth. All of those will make your Albania trip an unforgettable experience.

In the morning, we will depart early from Theth with 5.5 hours’ driving to arrive in Berat, which was designated as an important UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. Nicknamed as “the Town of a Thousand Windows”, Berat gets endowed with unique Albanian architecture, Ottoman-era mosques and Byzantine churches.

In the afternoon, your guide will lead you to visit the Berat Castle and the Onufri Iconographic Museum. Then, you may enjoy some leisure time at a coffeehouse or walk around the Albania traditional houses to enjoy the charming view of this enchanting city. Finally, we will check into a nice hotel for an overnight stay in Berat.
