Tourism Area of Sun Yat-sen's Hometown
 Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Memorial Hall
 West Sunwen Road

 Wugui Mountain
 Chrysanthemums in Xiaolan County
 Xinzhong Avenue

Far from the large and noisy metropolis, Zhongshan City has its unique quiet but charming natural and cultural sceneries. Sun Yat-sen, the great forerunner of Chinese revolution, was born in a small township forming part of the city. In order to commemorate his great contribution to the renaissance of China, the city was called Zhongshan, Sun Yat-sen's Chinese family name. At the same time, the locals marked their admiration for the great man by constructing museums and a street in his honor. Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Memorial Hall is located in the city center and the Museum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen is constructed in the Cuiheng Village, his birth place. If you have a deep interest in modern Chinese history, these are must things to do during your trip. The former can be reached by No.1 bus and the latter is available by No.12 and 48. The West Sunwen Road is a tourist pedestrian street and in its special way also commemorates Sun Yat-sen. Culture is the main theme of this street which is decorated with lifelike murals and sculptures.

The above three destinations have been included in the ten top Views of Zhongshan City. The other seven are scenic spots namely, the peak of Wugui Mountain and the green cascade of the Yangtze River are highly praised by visitors. Wugui Mountain has an elevation of 531 meters (about 1,742 feet), lying at the mouth of the Pearl River and teeming with many varieties of flowers and plants. You can get there by taking buses of No.11A and 11B. Actually, the green cascade of the Yangtze River is the Yangtze River reservoir scenic spot, just nine kilometers (about 5.6 miles) from the city center. The hills around the reservoir are covered in greenery that is reflected by the vast area of water. It is a veritable Xanadu in the city.

In addition, Zhongshan City has another treat that ranks with the top ten attractions for visitors. For several hundred years, Xiaolan County of Zhongshan has been famous for its chrysanthemums. It is said that almost every family living this county has its private garden filled with various kinds of chrysants. You can image the splendid sight these present in autumn when the flowers are in bloom. Each year from October to November, a mini-size showing of mums will be held here.

Xinzhong Avenue, an important transportation hub of the city, is also one of the top ten views. With 3.5 kilometers (about 2.1 miles) in length and 50 meters (about 0.03 miles) in width, it is the political, cultural, scientific and educational center of the city. Xinzhong Zhuijin, means beautiful brocade, another good name given to the road. The beautiful Sun Yat-sen Park of Zhongshan is located on this street, attracting lots of visitors by its variety vegetations. It is an ideal place for you to have a rest without entrance fee.

Although it does not altogether compare with the most famous tourist venues of China, Zhongshan has its own unique and lingering charm. Should you wish to escape from the bustling metropolises, don't hesitate to come here.

Yes, there are ferries to Zhongshan Port, and I happen to know the schedule: the ferries leave at 9:50, 12:30, 16:30 and 20:30 and take 70 minutes, 260HKD for an adult.

So you have three full days to tour around, right? Well, I suggest you spend one day in the city and the other two in Guangzhou and Zhuhai, for which the high speed trains are available taking only around half an hour. Hereunder is a recommended itinerary:
Day 1: ZS, Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Memorial Hall - Museum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen - Zhongshan Pedestrian Street
Day 2: White Cloud Mountain - Yuexiu Park - Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street (if there is time left, enjoy the Pearl River)
Day 3: New Yuanmingyuan Palace - Fishing Girl Statue

Good trip!

Well, I can hardly find a place that you can have direct transport mode to all of them. I suggest you live near the central part among these three places, and ZS North Railway Station is a good choice.

To Peak of Wugui Mountain: It is about 21 miles from the railway station. You are suggested to take a taxi, and the fare is about CNY85.
To Green Cascade: You can walk to Rail Station to take the bus No. 030 to Yangtze River Water World. The green cascade is located inside the park.

To Xiaolan: you can take a bullet train from North train staiton to Xiaolan, and the travel time is about 9 mins.
Near the railway station, there is a Kanghua Road, where you can find a lot of budget hotels there.
Vienna Hotel, located at No. 15 Kanghua Road.
Jinzuan Hotel, located at No. 33 Kanghua Hotel.
Jinsha Business Hotel, located at No,43 Kanghua Road.

From Guilin to Huangyao, you can take the direct bus at the Guilin General Bus Station, where the buses are scheduled at 9:00 and 13:30 daily. To ZS city, there are direct buses at the same bus station. Don't worry!

Then from Hangyao to Guangzhou, I'm afraid no direct bus is available. You can take a bus to Hezhou first and then transfer to another direct bus to Guangzhou.

From ZS to Guangzhou, I suggest you go to the local North Railway Station to take a bullet train to reach directly in about 35min.

The place you mentioned that is 3.5h driving distance from HK is the one in Guangdong,m which is different from the one at Guangxi.
