Questions & Answers on Chinese Consulates in Japan

How to change US citizen 10-year Chinese visa DURATION to longer than 60 days?
My wife is a Chinese citizen and I, her husband, am a USA citizen as is our 21M old daughter. Our daughter currently has a US passport with a Chinese 10-year tourist visa with 60 day max stay. For personal reasons my wife would like to take our daughter to live in China for 8 to 12 months What options do we have to extend our daughter’s current Chinese visa duration (currently 60 days) to 180 days or 12 months?
Do we need to apply for a (Q) Family Reunion visa or is there a better way? Can we submit the required forms via mail or do we have to visit the Embassy/ Consulate to change our daughter’s visa? We live in Aomori.

Tony, you can't change the stay duration of a 10-year visa once it is issued. You have to apply for a Q visa for her. You need to go to the embassy / consulate in person or have an agent do it for you.

You can apply for a China tourist visa at the CVASC in Tokyo.

You will need the following papers: passport, application form, photo, student visa in Japan or ARC card, and round-trip tickets and hotel bookings.

Cost: 9,000 yen.

Matit, CVASC in Tokyo only accepts the application of the third country citizen with long-term stay in Tokyo, so you may need to apply in your home country.
