If you don't study or work in China, you can only apply for a Q visa. As the Q visa has been temporarily suspended, you may need to wait until it is reissued.

I am an Iranian citizen who looks for travel to china to undergo a surgery.
I have a question and that which type of visa I should apply for and what are the documents I have to present to the embassy?

Ahmad, you should apply for an S type visa. The documents to be submitted include your passport, application form, completed application form, recent passport size photo, and an invitation letter from the hospital.

Dear, I'm afraid you can't apply for China visa at present due to the epidemic situation. Maybe you can confirm this with the Chinese embassy in your country.

Currently, I'm afraid you cannot apply for the visa, even if you have got an invitation letter.
