Day 1 Huangshan Airport or Train Station Pick-up, Explore Hongcun Village & Tunxi Old Street
Welcome to your 3 days Huangshan tour! Upon arrival, your private guide and driver will meet you at the airport or high-speed train station, and then accompany you to Hongcun Village, a UNESCO-listed typical water countryside village. It appears as a leisurely buffalo lying quietly amid green mountains and clear water, hailed as “a village in a Chinese painting”. As you walk along “the buffalo’s intestine” watercourse connecting traditional courtyards, the unique horse-head walls, grey tiles, and exquisite carvings will dazzle your eyes. With your guide, also admire the Moon Pond - “the buffalo’s stomach”, where mirror-like waters reflect the blue sky and white clouds. When in Chengzhi Hall, known as “Folk Forbidden City”, marvel at each figure with different, vivid expressions on the intricate wood carvings.

After a 1.5-hour drive to downtown Huangshan, Tunxi Old Street, a living witness to the legacy of a famous local merchant group in ancient China, will heave into sight. It evolves from a small wharf to a fishbone-like layout nowadays. Immerse yourself in its maroon slabstone-paved lanes, dotted with time-honored stores selling top-tier ink sticks and rice paper. When walking, you may catch pleasant melodies of local Huizhou Opera, the predecessor of Chinese Peking Opera, and faint whiffs of green tea drifting from nearby teahouses.

As the day ends, your guide and driver will escort you to your hotel. Or if you’d like to stay longer at this lively street for dinner on your own, you can finally catch a taxi back to your hotel by yourself. Your guide will be happy to offer you some genuine recommendations.

Day 2 Drive to Mt. Huangshan: Beginning to Believe Peak, Lion Peak, Flying-over Rock & Bright Summit
After breakfast, your guide and driver will gather with you in your hotel lobby, and then escort you on a 1-hour private car ride to Mt. Huangshan, also known as Yellow Mountain and world-famous for its “Five Wonders” of strange pines, grotesque rocks, seas of clouds, hot springs, and snowscapes.

To make your trip easier, we’ll specially include a cable car to whisk you up to the mountainside. En route, you’ll see the peaks shrouded in a vast sea of clouds, and oddly-shaped pines stretch out from the cliffs as if greeting you with open arms. Let’s visit the Beginning to Believe Peak first, revered as “Mt. Huangshan’s Premier Spectacle”. It faces the abyss on three sides, with towering precipices straight up into the sky, and their crags are pretty deep and sheer as if hewn by a sword. No wonder ancients once said, “Only here can one truly believe in Mt. Huangshan’s grandeur”. Here, you’ll also spot those famous pines. The Harp Pine resembles a vertical harp, characterized by a straight trunk and umbrella-shaped canopy. The Couple Pine, symbolizing pure love, splits into two trunks, whose shadows cling closely in the sun like a devoted couple.

Then, we’ll proceed to the Lion Peak, like a mighty lion curling above the clouds from afar. Marvel at the famed scene “Dream of Being a Successful Writer”. Legend has it that Li Bai (701-762 AD), one of China’s greatest ancient poets and equivalent to Shakespeare, once composed poems here. After he finished writing, he discarded his writing brush, which is said to have transformed into the Lion Peak, while the brush tip became a pine tree. Towards the Refreshing Terrace at “the lion’s waist”, appreciate the stunning sight “Monkey Watching the Sea”: a weathered boulder, shaped like a monkey, silently gazes at the blanket of clouds scudding beneath its feet.

After that, we’ll move on to visit the 12-meter-tall (39-foot-tall) Flying-over Rock. With a very small contact area between its bottom and the ground, this huge rock seems to fly from heaven. It was, reputedly, a remaining stone from Nuwa, the creator goddess in ancient Chinese mythology, who mended the sky and left the rock perched atop the mountain forever. Hike about 1.5 kilometers (1 mile) to Bright Summit, named for its long exposure to sunlight. Standing as the second-highest peak of the Yellow Mountain, it offers a sweeping view of sunset vistas. Arriving toward dusk, you may catch the sun slowly dropping below the western horizon and dyeing the sky in red-orange and gold hues. Beneath its rays, the sea of clouds is like golden waves surging and rolling. Finally, you’ll stay overnight at a hotel on the mountain.
► Note:
1. Apart from taking the round-trip cable car, you’ll visit all the attractions on foot. For this reason, it’s recommended you travel light with daily necessities, and leave your heavy luggage in your private car waiting at the foot of the mountain.
2. The hiking routes and attractions may vary depending on the day’s weather conditions.

Day 3 Mt. Huangshan Exploration to West Sea Grand Canyon, Airport or Train Station See-off
If you wish to catch the stunning sunrise over the mountain, you can rise early to admire it on your own, and return to your hotel for breakfast. Your guide will then accompany you to Cloud Dispelling Pavilion, where the clouds and light mist drift among layered peaks, like countless islets dotting the sea. Looking to your left, a rock resembles an ancient man’s boot upturned on the cliff, which is called “Immortal Airing the Boot”. Take another look to your right. Can you spot the two distant rocks shaped like a young maiden’s embroidered shoes? That’s known as “Immortal Drying Shoes.”

Afterward, we’ll head northwest to the West Sea Grand Canyon. As Mt. Huangshan’s most iconic gorge vista, it has been famed for peculiarity, steepness, depth, and seclusion. Its massif is formed by massive stone slabs as if hewn by axe, creating a special structure that appears precarious but stands quite steady. Turn your gaze toward the opposite gorge, and seek out the rock and pine that form the unique scene “Fairy’s Embroidery”, where an ancient maiden in a high bun leans over an embroidery stand, intently threading a needle to skillfully create her stitchwork. Then, let’s take a return cable car down the mountain.

At the end of this 3 days Huangshan tour package, your guide and driver will escort you to the airport or high-speed train station. If you’d like to visit neighboring destinations such as Jingdezhen, known for its exquisite ceramics, and Shangrao for scenic Wangxian Valley, please contact our consultants at any time to customize your journey!
