Pictures of Shanhaiguan Pass

Located in the northeast of Qinhuangdao, Shanhaiguan Town was built in 1381 in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It neighbors on the Bohai Sea on the southeast and the Yanshan Mountain on the northwest. Shanhaiguan Pass, having a strategic position and known as the First Pass of China,is the entrance to the town,  which is a very important gateway of the Ming Great Wall.   • The Arrow Tower covers an area of 356 square meters with a height of 13.7 meters.
  • The majestic Shanhaiguan Pass attracts many visitors at home and abroad.
  • The wall of Shanhaiguan Pass is about fourteen meters high, six meters thick and four kilometers long.
  • The Arrow Tower of the First Pass under Heaven once called Zhen Dong Tower was first built in 1381 in Ming Dynasty. There are 68 arrow windows respectively on the north, east and south wall.

Not very advanced technology except some simple machineries were used such as rolling logs, crowbars and winding gears. FYI: Principle of Great Wall construction(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/china_great_wall/construction/principle.htm) .
