We are a family of 4 adults travelling to China in June 2010. We want to travel from Beijing to Datong then on to Pingyao and Xi'an finally to Chengdu. Can we get a hop on hop off ticket for this or do we need a ticket for each leg of the journey. Would it be better to travel during the day or night for this. We want to spend some time in each area but not a lot of time traveling unless overnight but a soft sleeper is essential if traveling over night. What is the best way to organise this and how difficult is it to purchase the tickets we need. Also can you quote on the best price for these options. Thank you in advance for yuour help

You need to buy tickets for each leg of the journey. There are both daytime trains and overnight trains, so you can choose the trains according to your preference. Particularlly, the train tickets between Datong and Xi'an via Pingyao are hard to buy since there are only 5 trains available on both section. If you are interested to book the train tickets, you can submit your booking on this site.

Hello Tay, according to the train schedule, there is no bullet train available of Beijing/Piangyao, and the available train schedule from the Beijing West Railway Station just as the following: K603 1705/0532 and 1163 1903/0731 , which will take you about 12 hours and a half, a little bit long journey. Hope the above info. is helpful.
