Miao minority children, Guizhou
Your China Festival tour begins with a visit to one of the four most famous historical and cultural towns in Guizhou, Qingyan Ancient Town, which was originally built to station troops and open up wasteland over 600 years ago. A distinctive feature of the town is that it was built of stones. You could find stone city walls, stone folk houses, stone-paved streets and many other stone constructions in the town. After that, you will proceed to the Jiaxiu Pavilion, the cultural symbol of Guiyang. Then, visit the Hongfu Temple in Qianling Park. 'Hongfu' in Chinese means 'good fortune' and the temple is considered as the most famous Buddhist site in Guizhou. The sightseeing in Guiyang ends here and you will head for Kaili, the capital city of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture. Afterwards, continue the journey to Kaili Folk Museum, which introduces the culture, geography and ethnic folklore of the region in detail. You will stay three nights at the best local hotel in the downtown.

  Apr 18: Kaili
The first destination today is Langde Long-skirt Miao Village, where female villagers wear featured long skirts to make difference from those short-skirt Miao villages. Entering the village, you will be astonished by their traditional architecture - Wooden Stilt Houses and beautiful natural scenery. People there are friendly and unsophisticated, which makes you feel like at home. Meanwhile, a specially arranged Dancing and Singing Performance will make your trip more enjoyable.

You can learn about some interesting customs of Miao people on this Guizhou tour package. You may notice that, Miao people would dip the rice wine with the larger end of chopsticks and fling down the wine on the ground before having meals. They say that this is a sacrifice to the land where the grains grow. As Miao people have a strong reverence for nature, they will offer sacrifices to the wind, rain, flowers, trees, land, and more. It has been a habit of them to sprinkle a little rice wine on the ground, just like westerners saying grace. For their reverence for nature, Miao people protect the environment well as you can see, making your journey more friendly.

After that, you are going to appreciate the traditional way of paper-making in Shiqiao Miao Village. Kaili has the largest paper-making site in China with the most complete traditional paper-making steps and best-preserved paper-making tools. Then, you will take time to explore another Qingman Long-skirt Miao Village and be greeted into the village by locals in a special way, drinking the block way wine.

Miao minority people's festival celebration
The climax of the private tour is coming today as you attend the traditional Sister's Meal Festival of the Miao people in Shidong area. The festival is the most ancient Valentine's Day of the Miao people and well-known as the Oriental Valentine's Day, offering opportunities for young people to pursue their lover. During the festival, all the girls will be dressed up in elaborate clothes, shining silverware, crowns, hairpins, earrings and bracelets. In addition, the girls will make colorful sister's rice to send messages. If the girl gives a boy the sister's rice with a pair of chopsticks in, it means she wants to go steady with him. If the sister's rice received by the boy is put in only one chopstick, it means the girl does not want to go out with him and he should date another girl. If nothing is put in the sister's rice, it means the boy is not attractive to the girl at all. However, they could still get along well with each other and make friends. Activities such as cockfighting, bullfighting and horse racing make the festival even more exciting and joyful. You will be deeply impressed by the splendid scene.
