Beijing to Suzhou / Suzhou to Beijing: Best Ways to Travel

The straight line distance between Beijing and Suzhou is nearly 1,030km (640mi). Taking G-type high speed trains is the best and most convenient way to travel between, taking 4-6h and CNY524-627 for 2nd Class Seat. Since there is no airport in Suzhou, another time-saving way is to fly to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport first and then get to the nearby Hongqiao Railway Station to take a bullet train to Suzhou, and vice versa. This may take about 3-4 hours. Lastly, 3 overnight normal speed trains and one D-type train meet the needs of budget travelers.

How to Travel from Beijing to Suzhou

People may take G-typed high speed train to get from Beijing South Railway Station to Suzhou North Railway Station. 19 G-type trains are available every day from 7:45 to 19:36.

Nearly 50 flights leave from either Capital International Airport (PEK) or Daxing International Airport (PKX) and reach Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) in 2-2.5h. The earliest one takes off at 7:00 and the latest one takes off at 21:30.

How to Get from Suzhou to Beijing Tian’anmen Square & Forbidden City?

Recommended Way: High Speed Train + Metro: 4.5-6.5h, CNY530 at least

Step 1. You may get to Beijing South Railway Station by high speed train in 4-6h.

Step 2. Upon arrival, take metro Line 4 (bound for Anheqian North) to Xuanwumen stop and transfer to metro Line 2 (bound for Xizhimen) to Qianmen stop. It requires 20min and CNY3. After walking out of the metro station, you may start to visit Tian’anmen Square and Forbidden City from south to north.
