Route 11 Day Classic Tour of City Wall (including the park)- Bell Tower - Islamic Street

For your free time in Xian, take a tour of the ancient City Wall (CNY40 ) starting from the South Gate, one of the main and most convenient entrances for tourists. Beginning at City Hotel to the north walk for 10 minutes to the gate. Standing on top of the majestic Wall, one could imagine the difficulties faced in constructing this integrated military defense system when it was built by the ancient inhabitants. You will feel a harmonious blend of history with modern culture in this ancient capital. There are series of watchtowers, turrets, crenels and gate towers along the City Wall. A bicycle renting service (or electric car) is also provided on the wall – have a great time cycling the complete circuit at a cost of CNY40 per bike (The price could be bargained). The suggested visit time is about three hours but this varies. The sites usually open from 09: 00 am to 17:00 pm in the Low season (Autumn and Winter) and 08: 00 am to 19: 00 (Spring and Summer) in the Peak season.

If you're eager to have close contact with local people, the nearby City Wall Park is also a good destination. Senior citizens usually gather in the park to dance or do exercises early in the morning or late in the afternoon. You may join them for fun. Then go back along the same road to reach the Bell tower (CNY 27) (south of City Hotel) - the center of this historical city. You could spend an hour there at a cost of CNY 40. The Bell Tower is one of the landmarks of Xian; it is the largest and best-preserved ancient tower of its kind in China, with both high architectural and artistic merit. Have a panoramic view of the city and absorb the flourishing atmosphere, standing on the Bell Tower.

Moslem Street, Xian

Then walk to the west to Moslem Street (Huimin Jie) ,located beside the Drum Tower. The street is about 500 meters (about 547 yards) long running south to north. It is an old street paved with bluestone plate, lined on both sides with muslin restaurants decorated in Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) Dynasties' styles. The restaurants provide authentic hand-made Moslem food which tastes very good, in particular mutton soup. There are also small stores selling special local products of Shaanxi Province and others selling exquisite souvenirs. The Great Mosque is at the end of the road CNY 25 per person). It is one of the oldest and best-preserved Mosques in China. The architectural style of the Great Mosque is complicated as it harmoniously integrates traditional Muslim and Chinese styles. You may buy one ticket for both the Bell and Drum Tower at CNY 40 per person - a saving of CNY14 per person.

Route 21 Day Joyful Time in Weiyang Lake Amusement Park

For your free day, take a self-tour of Weiyang Lake Amusement Park. As the largest artificial lake of northwest, it is a good place for a cozy vacation. Composed of five areas, it caters to different tourists' demands and different amusement requirements.

In the Culture Square Area (south), you will find the red sun stage and Weiyang dining room. The Static Natural Area in the east is suitable for night activities. You might enjoy a barbecue picnic and camp in the field. In the center of the park lies the Water Play Area with some exciting water programs. The north area is the Beach Entertainment Area with an expanse of golden sands and grassland yurts. If you are an adventurous traveler, you could also try a 78.8m high bungee jump. In the west, the Casino Facility Area provides more than ten high tech entertainment facilities. Take bus 214, 600, 206, 208 26 or 37 at the Bell Tower near the City Hotel and get off at the economy development zone stop, then connect to bus 509 to reach the park directly. The park is open around-the-clock for tourists.
