Memorable Chengdu Outskirt Journey

On the second day, you can take a tourist bus to Kangding directly. There are 7 buses every day from 08:30 to 16:30, which takes CNY135 per ticket and around 4.5 hours on the way. Upon your arrival in Kangding, you can check in a local hostel for a good rest. If you want to experience the Tibet Small Pavilion (Xiaojiaolou) style hotel, Dengba Hostel is recommended, which is only 10 minutes' walk from the station and is clean, neat, comfortable and price-friendly. It is also the first Teenager Hostel in Kangding County with strong Tibetan characteristics. Afterwards, you can take the bus no. 1 or 2 from Xiangyangqiao Station and get off at Dongguan station for around 20 minutes to Mt. Guoda to stretch your legs and have a good warm-up for the following trekking or hiking.

On the fifth day, you can head for the Mugetso Scenic Area, which is located in the Yala Town, Kangding County, and is famous for its 3 S's (Sea, Sand and Sunshine). You can rent a car to go there, which takes around 2.5 hours on the way. The admission fee is RMB105 per person from Apr 1st to Nov 30th and CNY75 per person for the other time and the sightseeing ticket is CNY90 per person. When you arrive in the scenic area, it might be in the afternoon. Walking in the mountain, the blue Mugetso Lake appears suddenly in the green forest, which is an extremely fantastic sight, especially at sunset. The Mugetso Lake, which is also named "the Small Jiuzhaigou", is located at an altitude of 3700 meters (12,140 feet) with an area of 3.2 square kilometers and a depth of 70 meters (230 feet), making it the largest lake in northwestern Sichuan. The different vegetation at various altitudes forms another type of landscape. After the visiting, you can take the bus which departs at 17:30 back to Kangding County.

• Since there are few restaurants on the mountain, you're suggested to bring some snacks.
• Because of the high altitude, you can bring some medicine and fruits to avoid altitude sickness.
• You can rent a tent if you want to stay overnight on the mountain.

On the sixth day, you can rent a car at a fee of around CNY200 to Moxi Town in the morning and it takes about 2 hours on the way. Moxi Town is famous for its scenic area, the Hailuogou Valley, which is known for its incomparable glacier, the longest glacier (14.7 km/9.1 miles) in the Gongga Mountain Range. It is also said to be the lowest glacier on earth. The admission fee of Hailuogou Valley is CNY90 and the sightseeing vehicle fee is CNY70. Upon arrival, you can take the sightseeing vehicle first to enter the third camp to appreciate the beautiful glacier from the viewing platform. Then there are 2 ways for you. The first is taking the cable car to the fourth camp, which is easy and takes RMB150 for the round trip. The second is taking the sightseeing vehicle first to cable car tickets office, then walk along the sightseeing road, which takes about one-half hours to the viewing platform. On the way, you will cross through the original forest, which will make your walk worthwhile. Afterwards, you can get to the bottom of the glacier to appreciate it closely.
