Located in the arid and cold Ladakh desert, Markha Valley is an amazing Valley belonging to Hemis National Park. The long journey through the Valley is picturesque and full of adventure. If you are happen to travel to Ladakh, then the Markha Valley Trek is a scenic spot that you can't miss.
► Facts:
Suggested duration: 3 - 10 days
The best time: June - September
Altitude of the highest point: Kongmaru La (5200m/ 17,060 ft)
Altitude of the lowest point: The starting point (3200m/ 10,499 ft)
Guide & transfer connection: USD80 per person for 2 -3 days for a 3-traveler group
Many tourists start from Leh on foot. Although it is not difficult to find the route with a map. In view of the low cost of the guide, it is more convenient and safer to share the cost with several travelers.

Duration: 4-5 hours
Distance: 8.2km
Altitude: Up 2503ft and down 56ft
You will meet your guide in the morning and the driver will take you to the starting point of your trekking. The views of this stunning river valley will astonished you from time to time. When the group members are obsessed with shooting, you can just lay down on the grass and enjoy the moment of peace and beauty. The red land in front of you shines with the green grass and the blue sky, the magical painting of nature is really amazing. There are several tea houses along the way, you may have a rest, and then you will arrive at the home stay at Yurutse with the Altitude of 4100m/ 13452 ft.
Tips:
Don't take a break as soon as you arrive at your destination, but let yourself adapt to the altitude environment here firstly.

Day 2 Yurutse - Skiu
Duration: 7.5 hours
Distance: 17.8km
Today is the most challenging and will pass the highest point Kongmaru La (5200m/17,060 ft).
Keep trekking up and you will see many wild animals not far from you or on the top of the mountain. It's great to overlook the scenery of the snow mountain. Take a rest when you reach the highest point. The downhill road is relatively fast with the relaxing streams. Finally, after nearly 8 hours' trekking, you will arrive at the homestay at Skiu. The dinner will not be ready until the guests arrive since there is no internet to inform the host in advance.
Distance: 17.8km

After breakfast, the host will pack the lunch boxes for you and then continued to set off. Today's journey is smooth without too many high ups and downs. When you arrive at Chiling, the driver will transfer you back to Leh. Say goodbye to your guide and you can explore more in this area.
