As for the low temperature, it’s from about 0 to 14°C (32 to 57°F) on most days, so the weather is basically not freezing. In some years, the lowest temperature of Changsha is about -2°C (28°F) in February, but it basically won’t make people feel unbearably chilly.
 Changsha in February receives low precipitation of about 57 mm in about 10 days. Most of the time, the precipitation is in forms of slight and moderate rain, making it not so convenient to visit outdoor attractions. Since the city is in relatively low temperature in this month, for those who want to fully explore Changsha, it’s suggested to visit outdoor attractions between 10:00 and 15:00, and go to indoor ones such as the Hunan Provincial Museum and Changsha Museum in the colder periods in the daytime.

If you can accept the weather conditions, you can enjoy sightseeing at your own pace in less crowded attractions and spend less money on accommodation.

(3) The plum blossoms in the Orange Isle Scenic Area are in their prime. Pick sunny days in this month, and admire the vast area of delicate flowers in pink or white.

(4) You may see rime on the hillside and peak of the Yuelu Mountain on days after rain or snow. The low temperature and high humidity at night create such a crystally-clear view. In case that the rime melts as the temperate rises, it’s suggested to get to the mountain area in the early morning.
 On sunny days: You need to wear warm and comfortable clothes in your tour. For example, you can choose thermal underwear, a sweater, and an overcoat as your tops, and thermal pants and thick sweatpants as bottoms.

On precipitation days: Wear those windproof and warm clothes, such as thermal underwear, an outdoor jacket with a fleece lining, thermal leggings, and jeans.

Shoes: Sneakers / leather boots are enough for sightseeing in the downtown area, and climbing shoes are better choices for walking on the mountain roads.

Requisites: Raingear such as an umbrella. A woolen beanie and a scarf to provide protection against wind.
