Day 1 Flying from Chicago
Today, you will take a flight to Beijing on your own and the air ticket will be prepared for you ahead of time. The transfer to the airport is also on your side. About 2 direct flights are operated from Chicago to Beijing every day.
Day 2 Arrival in Beijing
You will arrive in Beijing after about 14 hours' flying. On arrival, our guide will meet you at Beijing Airport and then the driver will transfer you to a luxury hotel. You can alleviate fatigue at the hotel for the coming China tour from Chicago.

Your China tour from America starts with Tiananmen Square which is one of the landmarks of the city. The next stop is Forbidden City, the royal palace of Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368-1911). At noon, an a la carte welcome lunch (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) with authentic Chinese food and well-known Peking Roast Duck is specially prepared for you.

In the afternoon, we will head to the Temple of Heaven, where emperors worshiped the heaven and gods for good harvest in ancient times. After that, enjoy a fantastic Kung Fu Show at the Red Theater.

Day 4 Beijing

Today’s highlight definitely is the Mutianyu Great Wall, at which we will ascend and descend by cable car. The winding wall stretches along the steep mountains and features dense watch towers. The red wine will be offered for celebrating your Great Wall trip. We do not arrange lunch today since the restaurants nearby are not very good; you are suggested to take some fast food by yourself.

In the afternoon, have a photo stop at the National Stadium (the Bird's Nest) on the way back to downtown. Then an exploration at a local market will bring you a lot of fun.

Day 5 Beijing - Xi'an
Today's first stop is the Summer Palace, which served as a summer resort for the royal families and takes the first place among Chinese classic gardens. The unique design, elegant buildings and the vast Kunming Lake will catch your eyes. After that, we will head to the old Hutongs where you can experience a rickshaw tour and have a dive into Beijing culture. Also, you can try the Chinese Paper Cutting with your own hands.

At noon, an a la carte lunch (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) will be prepared and you will then be transferred to the airport after lunch. Take a flight to Xi'an and our local guide will pick you up at Xi'an airport and drive you to the hotel.

Day 6 Xi'an

As your China tour from Chicago comes to Xi’an, we won’t miss the most well-known Terracotta Army. After breakfast, we are going to appreciate the grand clay army and other relics unearthed from the Mausoleum of China’s first emperor, Qin Shihuang. After that, a home-cooked a la carte lunch (valued at CNY120.00 per person and included in our price) will be arranged at a local family. The hospitable hostess will invite you to join in the Chinese cooking class for free, if you are interested.

In the afternoon, proceed to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and Xi'an Museum. In the evening, a Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show will be arranged and you can enjoy a delicious dumpling dinner at the same time.

Day 7 Xi'an

Today's itinerary starts with the City Wall Park, where you can learn the traditional Chinese martial art Tai Chi from a master. Then we will ascend the ancient City Wall and enjoy a panoramic view of the city. Cycling around the City Wall is also interesting. You can experience it and pay the rent on the spot. At noon, enjoy an a la carte lunch (valued at CNY120.00 per person and included in our price). After lunch, we will pay a visit to Shaanxi History Museum and the Great Mosque. The Great Mosque is on the Muslim Quarter, where you can taste a lot of local snacks.

Day 8 Xi'an - Guilin
Today, your China tour from Chicago will come to Guilin, a city boasting varied natural scenery. After arrival by morning flight to Guilin, our tour guide will meet you at the airport and accompany you to the Reed Flute Cave, a karst cave containing a large number of exquisite stalagmites, stone pillars and stone flowers; then the Elephant Trunk Hill. After visiting, you will be transferred to the hotel.

Day 9 Guilin - Yangshuo - Guilin

After breakfast, we will board a cruise to appreciate the landscape along the Li River, which is definitely a highlight of your China tour from the U.S. The green mountains scattered along the river form a landscape painting. After about 4 hours' cruise, we will disembark at Yangshuo. Then move forward to the famous West Street filled with boutiques, cafes, and restaurants. Afterwards, we will pay a short visit to a local peasant house and experience the rural life. Then we will drive back to Guilin to stay overnight.

Tips: Unfortunately the lunch on the cruise is the simple Chinese lunch box, which is not up to the standard that we would like. So we recommend you take a hearty breakfast at the hotel in the morning.

Day 10 Guilin - Chengdu
Today, you will take a morning flight to pandas' hometown, Chengdu. Our guide in Chengdu will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day will be freely spent by yourself and our guide will be willing to offer you some good suggestions.

Day 11 Chengdu

Today's itinerary starts with the Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. The cute pandas will surely add fun to your journey. The next stop is Broad and Narrow Alleys, where gather a lot of stores, tea houses and restaurants and you can taste some authentic local snacks and food as lunch.

After lunch, we will head to the Jinsha Site Museum, where you can explore the ancient Shu civilization with the history of 3,000 years. Then move to the Renmin Park, a good place to have a cup of tea and experience local's life.

Day 12 Chengdu - Chongqing
The whole morning will be left for you to explore the city freely and lunch will be arranged by yourself. After lunch, we will drive you to the railway station to take a 2-hour bullet train to Chongqing. Our local guide will meet you at Chongqing Railway Station. After a short visit to the Jiefangbei CBD at the city center, we will continue to Ci Qi Kou Ancient Village, where you can have a dinner by yourself. Then, our guide will send you to embark a 5-star Yangtze cruise ship to start your Yangtze River cruise at about 21:30.

Day 13 Yangtze River Cruise
You can enjoy the scenery along the Yangtze River in the morning and the cruise will arrive at Zhongxian around 14:00. Go ashore to visit a spectacular pagoda, Shibaozhai, featuring a complete wooden structure of 12 floors, which is very rare. After visiting, return back to the cruise ship. You will be invited to the Captain's Welcome Party this evening.

Today, the ship will pass through the Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge, which is the most essential part of the Yangtze River Cruise. The cruise guide will make a formal presentation onboard to tell you more about the Three Gorges. Prepare your camera and try to capture the majestic sceneries. After lunch, we will have an excursion to the Shennv Stream on a sampan and the short trip lasts about 3 to 4 hours. Then get back to the cruise and the ship continues to sail to the Xiling Gorge.

Day 15 Yichang - Shanghai
The Yangtze River Cruise will come to Yichang today and we will appreciate the Three Gorges Dam, which is the largest hydro-electric project of the world. Before the visit, pack your luggage for disembarking. Finish visiting, you will be transferred to the Three Gorges Tourist Center where our local guide will pick you up and take you to the railway station for a 7.5-hour bullet train to Shanghai. Upon arrival, the guide in Shanghai will meet you at the railway station and escort you to the hotel.

Our first stop is the Shanghai Museum with more than 120,000 culture relics, which ranks top among all museums in China. Then we will head to the Yu Garden, whose intricate layout, exquisite pavilions and artificial hills will leave you a deep impression. After that, an a la carte farewell lunch (valued at CNY120.00 per person and included in our price) will be served for you.

In the afternoon, we will continue to visit the Former French Concession and the Bund. As one of the most remarkable sights in Shanghai, the Bund features varied elegant buildings with different architectural styles. Afterwards, take a one-hour cruise along the Huangpu River and then you will be transferred back to the hotel.

Day 17 Shanghai - Chicago
Today, your China tour from Chicago is over. You will need to go to the airport on your own for your homeward flight. From Shanghai to Chicago, one direct flight is available on Tuesday and Thursday and two direct flights on the other days of the week. Hope you have a nice journey home!
