Welcome to this well-planned Lantau Island tour! At around 9:00 a.m., your private guide and driver will meet you at your self-booked hotel in downtown Hong Kong and then escort you on a scenic 30-minute private car ride to Lantau Island. As Hong Kong’s largest outlying island, it offers a rich mix of experiences: hiking, relaxation, and exploration of traditional fishing villages and Buddhist sites. En route, we’ll cross the iconic 2,200-meter (1.4-mile) Tsing Ma Bridge, the world’s longest rail-and-road suspension bridge.
► The specific departure time on the tour day is flexible and can be tailored to your preferences.
► Note: The Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car may be suspended because of bad weather or other security concerns. In such cases, we’ll arrange alternative vehicles to and from Ngong Ping at no extra cost.
After alighting from the cable car, walk just a few steps to Ngong Ping Village, a cultural and business block full of traditional Chinese buildings, exquisite handicrafts, tasty local snacks, and entertainment facilities, which can offer you a lovely recreational experience. If you’re interested, your guide will be happy to show you around.
Later, stroll a short distance to the century-old Po Lin Monastery, where the rich Buddhist atmosphere will suddenly embrace you, easing your mind amid the lingering aroma of incense. Climb over 268 steps to take a close look at its famed Big Buddha, also known as Tian Tan Buddha, the world’s largest outdoor seated bronze Buddha statue. Looking upon it, you’ll notice its full, dignified face and long ears stretching down to its shoulders, all of which symbolize wisdom, compassion, and good fortune in Buddhist culture. Besides, the monastery showcases architectural features typical of Chinese gardens. Around every corner, you’ll find elegant buildings shaded by lush trees and framed by blooming flowers, creating delightful scenery.
► Lunch is not included. You can fuel up early at Ngong Ping Village with pineapple buns, curry pork chop rice, Hong Kong milk tea, and Starbucks. If you want something unique, try a vegetarian meal at Po Lin Monastery. Alternatively, hold out for Tai O Fishing Village, where you can feast on street snacks like marinated cuttlefish at Fuk Hing Hong, or minced pork rolls with shrimp paste at Cheung Choi Kee. Your guide will be willing to help you locate the best food stops.

After disembarking, we’ll continue to visit the Tai Chung Bridge and Sun Ki Bridge, erected in the late 20th century to link the stilt house community to both banks of Tai O. Both are moveable bridges, a rarity in Hong Kong: if a large ship happens to sail below, you’ll watch the central section of the bridge being raised and opened to make way. As you stroll across them, pause for a while to appreciate the perfect-postcard landscape, where a veritable forest of stilt houses is set against rolling green hills and bright blue skies.
Around 17:00, your guide and driver will accompany you to leave the island, and head back to your hotel. If you wish to venture further, visiting Victoria Peak, Repulse Bay, or Hong Kong Disneyland, please contact us at any time for an exclusive tour tailored to your interests!

★ Enjoy Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car
Upon arrival, let’s board the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car at the Tung Chung Terminus up to the Ngong Ping highland terrace, while enjoying 360-degree views of urban and natural vistas. A 25-minute ride will carry you away from the hustle and bustle of Tung Chung town into the serene wilderness of Lantau Island. Along the way, overlook the sparkling waters of Tung Chung Bay, watch planes departing and landing at the airport, and admire the tree-cloaked hills before the imposing Big Buddha comes into your sight. On a clear day, you can even catch a glimpse of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, the world’s longest cross-sea bridge.► Note: The Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car may be suspended because of bad weather or other security concerns. ★ Take a Boat Tour to Admire Tai O’s Stilt Houses and Canals
We’ll then travel southwest to Tai O Fishing Village, a Venice-like waterside settlement, where locals once lived on boats before building stilt houses along the shore over 200 years ago. We’ve specially included a boat tour for you - the best way to appreciate these unique dwellings and waterways up close. During the cruise, your guide may share the buildings’ history and functions: the roofs were originally rounded or triangular, but later made flat; the front of each was for dining and net mending, while the rear served as storage. Most surprisingly, pigs were even raised beneath the houses. If lucky enough, you may bump into clever Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins.
