Whether you are staying near the east gate of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in Wulingyuan District or in downtown Zhangjiajie, your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel at around 9:00 AM and escort you on a private car ride to Seven Star Mountain. The departure time can be adjusted to suit your schedule.From the entrance, a 15-minute cable car will lift you to the Octagonal Pavilion halfway up the mountain. As a convenient rest stop, it offers some basic food and beverage supplies. Next, let’s take the park’s eco-shuttle to the highest point: Star Picking Terrace, where you can take in all seven peaks that are arranged like the Big Dipper at a glance. Following the footpath, we’ll reach the Seven Star Mountain Glass Skywalk. On a clear day, an unobstructed view of the sheer rock and the deep canyon will make your heart race. When mist shrouds the peaks, the surging cloud waves beneath your feet may make you feel as if you are walking in the sky.

★ Sky Ladder: Game of the Braves

Continuing along the Glass Skywalk, we’ll pass the Great Cliff Via Ferrata, arguably the most viral attraction in the area. Here, a 168‑meter (551‑foot) long ladder spans two cliffs at a dizzying height of 1,480 meters (4,856 feet), often partly veiled in mist. A glimpse of climbers navigating the cliffs with only an iron chain for support is enough to make anyone break into a cold sweat. Setting foot on the Ferrata means committing to a path with no turning back, which is truly a game for the brave. As one viral comment put it: “I wouldn’t try it even for 10 million yuan!”

Those with heart disease or high blood pressure are not permitted to climb.

Next, we won’t let you miss the iconic “Eye of the Sky” (shoe covers included), a glass platform on a cliffside clearing offering a 360‑degree view: Tianmen Mountain to the east, downtown Zhangjiajie below, and endless rolling ranges to the west. After admiring sunset here, your guide will accompany you on a relaxing walk of 20 to 30 minutes to the parking lot. Tobogganing through the ridges is also a very popular way to descend the mountain in just 3 minutes. If you are interested, you can take it downhill at your own expense.
