In the morning, your guide and the driver will pick you up from your hotel for a visit to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the world’s largest dome-shaped stupas, enshrining the relics of Kasyapa Buddha, the predecessor of Shakyamuni. Prepare to be captivated by the giant Buddha eyes painted on the golden square tower, known as the “Eyes of Wisdom,” gazing in all directions as if watching over every soul. Beneath them, the third eye, shaped like a question mark and echoing the Nepali numeral “1,” symbolizes the Buddhist belief that all beings are one. While strolling around the stupa, feel the deep, focused devotion of the pilgrims circling it for prayers.

Then, we’ll head to the UNESCO-listed Pashupatinath Temple, commonly known as the “Cremation Temple,” for a truly soul-stirring experience. Along the Bagmati River, a tributary of the sacred Ganges, catch a glimpse of the Hindu open-air cremation rituals: family members wash the feet of the deceased with holy water, circle the funeral pyre in prayer, and, after cremation on the stone platform, sweep the ashes into the river. It may be shocking, but it’s an everyday reality for local Hindus, with dozens of cremations taking place daily; they believe that fire purifies sin and the river releases the soul to a better place. Among the scattered shrines, you’ll also spot sadhus, locally called “baba,” in vibrant attire with painted faces, meditating quietly. Just note that photographing them comes at a cost.

Afterward, let’s drive southeast to explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square, hailed as the “Jewel of Medieval Nepali Art.” After passing by the magnificent Golden Gate in the main square, we’ll stop at the Dattatreya Temple in the adjoining Dattatreya Square. There, take in the guardian statues at the entrance and a tall stone pillar topped with a carving of Garuda, the divine eagle. Look up at the round windows to see the rare three-in-one wooden carving of Hinduism’s supreme deities: Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver, and Shiva the destroyer. Next, a short stroll southeast leads you to Pottery Square, where the ground is covered with terracotta and dark grey pots, oil lamps, and elephant figurines, while the air hums with the rhythmic whir of potter’s wheels.

Back in Kathmandu, accompanied by your guide, visit a well-regarded local restaurant for an authentic Nepali dinner show. You may have a chance to savor a traditional Dal Bhat set meal - rice with lentil soup and various sides - along with local brews. As you dine, feast your eyes on lively folk dances performed by ethnic groups, like Newari and Tharu. After the joyful meal, your guide and the driver will escort you back to your hotel.

After breakfast, your guide and the driver will meet you at your hotel for a 5-hour road trip to Chitwan, Nepal’s “heart of the jungle.” It boasts Chitwan National Park, one of Asia’s largest forest reserves, once a private royal hunting ground and now a UNESCO-listed wildlife sanctuary. Spanning 932 km² (360 sq.mi), it shelters over 50 mammal species, including rare one-horned rhinos, deer, wild boars, and Bengal tigers, and more than 500 bird species, including kingfishers and harpy eagles.

Upon arrival, your guide will assist you with hotel check-in. For the rest of the day, consider taking a stroll by yourself along the nearby Rapti River, Chitwan’s main waterway, flanked by dense jungles teeming with wildlife. Grab a seat at a riverside café and watch spotted deer and water birds on the opposite bank. If weather permits, stay for a stunning sunset and flaming clouds.

1. Cash in Nepalese rupees is king in Chitwan. You'll get a better exchange in Kathmandu’s Thamel (around USD 1≈NPR 151.5), the main tourist hub, so it’s advisable to stock up on rupees there in advance.
2.Wildlife in Chitwan roam freely and may wander into villages around the park at night. It’s best to stay indoors after dark. If you spot one on the streets, keep your distance and avoid making noises or sudden movements - they usually won’t bother people unless provoked.

★ Exhilarating Wildlife Adventure in Chitwan National Park

Today, set out with your guide and the driver from your hotel to Chitwan National Park, where a local guide will accompany you to kick off an exciting jungle adventure. A 1.5-hour elephant-back safari awaits! Perched high atop the gentle giant, your view opens up as it carries you through the jungle, across hills, and over rivers. With luck, you might spot one-horned rhinos and Bengal tigers. You’ll also hop into an open jeep for a 4-hour deep exploration, weaving through dense woods, grasslands, and wetlands in search of strutting peacocks, elegant deer, and clever macaques.
► Wildlife is most active in the early morning, ideal for a jeep safari, while elephant rides are available at either 8:00 or 16:00. Feel free to set the exact time with your travel consultant in advance.

A canoeing experience is also well-arranged. Sitting in a slender traditional dugout canoe, glide slowly along the Rapti River. Crocodiles often bask on the riverbanks, blending in with logs of similar color. Your eagle-eyed guide will help point them out. And you’ll definitely hold your breath when you catch one gliding out of the calm water! Don’t worry - they usually won’t come close.

Afterward, gear up for a more physically demanding yet thrilling jungle walk. Accompanied by your experienced guide, venture deep into the woods to track wildlife signs, such as tiger claw marks on tree trunks, massive rhino footprints, and fur left by animals rubbing against trees. Spot a fresh pile of dung? Stay alert - a predator may still be nearby!

Round off today with a visit to a Tharu village, home to one of Nepal’s indigenous ethnic groups. Stroll through this peaceful settlement, past free-range poultry and traditional mud-and-thatch houses with white or colorful palm prints on the walls - festive marks by villagers for blessings. You may also enjoy a lively Tharu stick dance show, where dancers form a circle and strike sticks in rhythm to madal drums. Feel free to join in the fun if invited! Early this morning, head out for bird watching with your local guide, who will share useful tips along the way, such as locating birds by their calls, tracking rustling leaves, and then pausing to observe quietly. With luck, you might spot the endangered Bengal florican, easily recognized by its long neck, long legs, and black head. The best birdwatching season is from October to March on clear days, and if you visit in January or February, you may also see migratory birds from Tibet and Siberia.

As your Chitwan adventure ends, your guide and the driver will escort you back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in 5 hours, check into your hotel with your guide’s help, and have some good rest.

Climb the creaky stairs of the Snowman Cafe, the oldest surviving original hangout on the street, behold the old graffiti-covered walls, order a signature cream caramel, and hear the owner tell inside scoops of those free-spirited hippies who once escaped here for love and freedom.

In the morning, your guide and the driver will accompany you on a 1-hour drive to the 2,551-meter (8,369-foot) Chandragiri Hill, a hotspot on Kathmandu’s southwestern edge blending natural beauty with spirituality. Hop into one of Nepal’s longest cable cars for a 15-minute slow ascent above lush forests. At the summit, sweeping city views unfold: colorful houses pack the city in a vibrant mosaic. On a clear day, with telescopes on the viewing platform, you might also admire stunning Himalayan peaks! Beyond that, we’ll soak up the tranquil, divine vibe at the hilltop Bhaleshwar Mahadev Temple, a Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Afterward, we’ll drive to Patan Durbar Square, often hailed as the “living fossil” of Nepali carving craftsmanship. Walk with your guide to admire the Golden Temple, a masterpiece of local metalwork. This thousand-year-old red-brick structure appears modest, but inside lies a dazzling three-story shrine entirely plated in pure copper and gold, with doors, windows, beams, and roof carved with Buddhist lotus motifs and Hindu deities. Besides, keep your ears open for the clang of wooden hammers from local workshops, observe artisans craft gilded Buddha statues using traditional methods, and stop by a woodcarving studio to see young craftsmen painting wooden masks.
