Day 1 Arrival in Hanoi
Welcome to Vietnam! As soon as you arrive at the airport in Hanoi, your personal guide will meet you with a warm smile and take you to your hotel in a comfortable air-conditioned car. In the afternoon, there is an initial walking tour to the main sites of Hanoi: the Opera House with its typical French architecture, the Old Quarter with busy alleys and shops, the quiet and peaceful Hoan Kiem Lake where the local people like to roam, and the Ngoc Son Temple which is located alongside the lake. In the evening, a welcome dinner of authentic Vietnamese food will be arranged at a good local restaurant. You will be free then to browse the city on your own or have a good rest at the hotel.

Day 2 Hanoi City Tour - Night train to Laocai
Continue the Hanoi city tour to the Ba Dinh Square and the West Lake. Ba Dinh Square is the political center of Vietnam. In honor of the chairman Ho Chi Minh, his Mausoleum was built here to preserve his body permanently so the future generations may pay their respects to this great leader. The other attractions you will visit here are Ho Chi Minh's stilt house, the nearby One Pillar Pagoda and the Presidential Palace. In the afternoon, we will go ahead for the rest of the key sites of this capital city. First you will visit the Temple of Literature, and then the Ethnology Museum which is interesting and introduces Vietnam's traditional culture, folk-customs and way of life in detail. With an abundant collection of artworks, daily commodities, and also maps, videos and models, it shows the diversity of Vietnam's culture vividly. After that you will have a relaxing time at the beautiful West Lake with a short visit to the Quan Thanh Temple and the Tran Quoc Pagoda. In the evening, you will enjoy a traditional Water Puppet Performance before taking an overnight soft sleeper train to Laocai.

Day 3 Laocai - Sapa
Arrive at Laocai, drive to Sapa and check in at the hotel. Trekking through the terraced rice fields to the villages Cat Cat and Sin Chai. (B)
You will arrive at Laocai in the early morning. You will be picked up at the train station and then transfer to the hotel in Sapa, which is 40km from the station. After breakfast at the hotel, you will have some time to rest and recover from the tiring train journey. Later, explore this charming mountain town escorted by your tour guide. Sapa is a famous summer resort in Vietnam. It is permeated by a strong French and European colonial culture atmosphere and mixed with local minority feature. The town attracts many tourists from all over the world, especially those from Western countries. Today, you will have a two hour's trekking trip through the terraced rice fields to visit the villages Cat Cat and Sin Chai. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the town on your own.

Day 4 Sapa
Explore Sapa town further, pass through hill tribe villages. An overnight train back to Hanoi. (B+L)
Around this colorful town with its group of European-style buildings, there are remote hill tribe villages, splendid terraced rice fields set amongst haunting natural beauty. Today you will have a longer trek to explore the Sapa town further, and discover the local minority people's life in depth. Depending upon your physical ability, you may choose to have an easy trek which of about 3km, a medium trek of 6km or a long trek of 12km. The hill tribe villages you will pass through are the homes of the H'mong, Dzao and Dzay people. You will learn more about their culture and daily life from your guide and also your own experience. Lunch is arranged at a hill tribe village today. And after the excursion, you are driven back to Laocai and take an overnight soft sleeper train back to Hanoi.

Day 5 Hanoi - Halong Bay - Overnight on cruise
Railway station pick-up, have a short break. Drive to Halong Bay to board Signature cruise and stay one night on the cruise. You will have a wonderful time. (B+L+D)
The train arrives in Hanoi in the early morning. Your guide will wait for you at the train station and pick you up on time. After having breakfast and a short break at Cosiana Hotel (3 stars) nearby the railway station, you will be transferred to enjoy another highlight in the Hanoi holiday package: the Halong Bay. The transfer to Halong Bay takes 3 to 3.5 hours. Enjoy the countryside view along the way or just take a rest on the bus. You will be re-energized from the moment you step on board the Junk Cruise by the breathtaking surrounding scenery. Halong Bay is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is an amazing natural area comprising soaring limestone islands and surprising caves. After having lunch onboard, enjoy the scenery as we sail out into the bay. The islands we will cruise around in the afternoon through many islets. And you will also visit one of the three main caves among Thien Cung, Dau Go and Sung Sot, and have a relaxing time on a sheltered white-sand beach if weather permits. Tonight, you will stay aboard your junk. There is nothing more peaceful than relaxing on the sundeck with fresh air and a beautiful night sky.

Day 6 Halong Bay - Hanoi - Fly to Hue
Relax on board, disembark around noon and fly to Hue. Airport-hotel transfer. (Brunch)
Join in Tai Chi class on the top deck in the morning if you awake early. Later after you enjoy a morning cup of coffee or tea, you will set out to explore some nearby islands by an interesting rowboat. Return to the junk and take your time on the sundeck to enjoy the majestic view of Bai Tu Long Bay. Brunch is served on board during your return trip to Halong City and your fascinating cruise tour ends as you arrive at the pier. You will be picked up at the pier and transferred to Noi Bai Airport for your flight to Hue, a former ancient capital of Vietnam. Upon arrival, your guide and driver in Hue will meet you at the airport warmly and take you to check in at the hotel for a good rest.

Day 7 Hue City Tour
Imperial City (The Citadel), Hue Royal Palace, Tomb of Tu Duc, Dong Ba riverside market. (B+L)
Hue is located in the middle part of Vietnam. It was an ancient capital for three dynasties with a precious complex of monuments. Today, you will have a full day to explore this ancient town starting from the Imperial City (The Citadel), which is the imperial palace of Nguyen dynasty. It is also the largest and most complete ancient architectural complex that exits in Vietnam. The places you will visit in the afternoon include the Hue Royal Palace, Tomb of Tu Duc  and the vibrant Dong Ba riverside market.

Day 8 Hue - Danang - Hoian
Take a boat ride to visit Lady Pagoda and Minh Mang's tomb. An afternoon drive to Hoian, en route overlook one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. (B+L)
The Perfume River is considered to be the soul of Hue. It runs through the whole city and brings life into this historical town. In the morning, you will take a private boat cruising down the river to visit the Lady Pagoda, also named Thien Mu Pagoda and then visit the ornate Minh Mang's tomb. After having lunch at a riverside restaurant, you drive to Hoian passing over the 500m-high Hai Van pass where you can overlook one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. You will also stop en route in Danang to visit the Cham Museum and handicraft villages at the foot of Marble Mountain. Arrive in Hoian in the late afternoon and you will be free for the rest of the day to explore the town on your own.

Day 9 Hoian - My Son
Morning excursion to My Son Valley. Free afternoon to explore Hoian Ancient Town. (B)
Forty kilometers from Hoian, there is a Holy Land to Vietnamese, My Son Valley. Just as the ancient town Hoian, it is also listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for its cultural value. My Son is the most important shrine left by illustrious Champa Kingdom. This morning you will be escorted by your guide to learn more about these exquisite ruins. Then we will return to Hoian and the remaining time is free for you to explore the town or do some shopping. Different from the noisy and bustling Hanoi and the peaceful Hue, Hoian is so classical and modest that you will feel relaxed among the local people who live in calm and ease.

Day 10 Hoian - Danang - Fly to Saigon
Fly to Saigon. Aiport-hotel transfer, Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral, City Post Office, Ben Thanh flea market. (B)
Drive to Danang and take a flight to Saigon, a modern metropolis in Vietnam. Your guide will pick you up at the airport for your check in at the hotel. You will make your own lunch arrangements choosing a restaurant in the downtown area with the assistance of your guide. In the afternoon, you have a city tour to the key sites of Saigon: the Reunification Palace, the War Remnants Museum, the solemn and majestic Notre Dame Cathedral and the nearby City Post Office. Finally there is a stop at the local flea market Ben Thanh Market for some shopping.

Day 11 Saigon
Excursion to Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple. (B)
Today, you will have a full day excursion for a side trip to Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple. Cu Chi Tunnels are underground passageways used during the war as protection from the enemies. They were constructed initially in 1948 by linking some of the blindages created during the war with France. Later during the Vietnam War, the tunnels are expanded to 200km long. There you will find complete facilities like a treatment room, meeting room, sleeping room and a command room etc. During the ruthless war, it was agreed that the tunnels were effective hiding-places, safe shelter for the forces and enabled the ambush of the invaders. Then you will visit the beautiful Cao Dai Temple in Tay Ninh. Caodaism is the third largest religion in Vietnam which is a fusion of various elements of Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism, Christianity and Islam both in thoughts and architectural style. Here, with luck, you may also be able to partake in the noontime prayer service. You transfer back to Saigon after today's trip.

Day 12 Saigon - Ben Tre - Can Tho
A day trip to Ben Tre. Cruise on Ham Luong River, Local orchards and workshops, Countryside tour, Visit a local family. (B+L)
After having breakfast at the hotel, you will depart early today for a drive to the Mekong River Delta. First you will arrive at a riverside town, Ben Tre. Along the way on the Ham Luong River, there will be a stop at a candy factory and an orchard garden where you may see the manufacture of rice paper and the production of coconut candy. You then cross the river by boat to visit a local family and explore the countryside by bicycle or "Xe Loi" to discover the daily activities of the local people. Later today, your driver will meet you at Ben Tre and transfer you to Can Tho City for your overnight stay.

Day 13 Can Tho - Floating market - Saigon
Cai Rang floating market, fruit orchards, drive back to Saigon. (B)
This morning, we will take you to visit Cai Rang which is the largest and colorful floating market in the Mekong Delta. Along the way you will see hundreds of boats packed with vegetables, plants, fruits, foods, etc. A boat trip will take you to Mekong Delta's famous fruit orchards and then to explore deeper into the countryside to discover and observe the local people's way of life. Return to Can Tho for lunch before we drive back to Saigon.
