Day 1 Arrival in Hanoi, Half-day City Tour
Airport pick-up. Visit Opera House. Tour around Hanoi Old Quarter by rickshaw. Visit Hoan Kiem Lake & Ngoc Son Temple, and enjoy a welcome dinner. (D)
Welcome to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam! Your private guide and the driver will warmly greet you at the airport and accompany you to start your Vietnam best tour. According to the legend, the first emperor of the Ly Dynasty erected the capital in Hanoi after seeing an auspicious golden dragon. From then to 1945 AD, when President Ho Chi Minh declared the declaration of independence, and even today, Hanoi has long been considered Vietnam’s spiritual center.
After check-in, your guide will first show you around the Opera House, a French neoclassical structure with a yellow and white façade. Then, tour the Old Quarter by rickshaw, an intriguing means of Vietnamese transportation: you’ll sit in the front while the driver rides behind you, with intricate street scenes unfolding in front of you! In addition to indigenous scenes of the motorcycle army dashing by, tube houses flanked by French buildings, and coffee shops with low stools outdoors facing the streets, the bustling area is swarming with backpackers from all over the world. The quarter is also called “36 Streets”, with each street named after a particular commodity it specializes in, such as Bucket Street and Sugar Street. Afterward, head to Hoan Kiem Lake, and visit Ngoc Son Temple, which displays the giant turtle that once lived in the lake. It’s said that an emperor resisted enemies with a sword borrowed from the turtle, and the lake was subsequently named "Lake of the Returned Sword".
In the evening, we’ll arrange a welcome dinner for you at an upscale restaurant. Sample the grilled chicken with pandan leaves and fried spring rolls, a specialty made of thin and transparent rice papers rolled with julienned cucumber and carrot, and chicken or pork, and then fried till golden and crispy. At last, your guide and the driver will escort you back to the hotel. The Old Quarter at night is home to a host of street stalls and atmospheric bars, and you can ask the driver to drop you there to explore on your own, and finally hail a Grab taxi to return to your hotel.

Day 2 Hanoi City Highlights
Visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex, One Pillar Pagoda, Temple of Literature, Tran Quoc Pagoda or Quan Thanh Temple, Museum of Ethnology or National Museum of History, and enjoy a Water Puppet Show. (B+L)
Today, your private guide will accompany you to kick off your Hanoi sightseeing at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex. Pay homage to the venerable revolutionary leader at his mausoleum, where his remains lie peacefully in a glass coffin. In the nearby Presidential Palace, admire the splendid French-style mansion President Ho worked in and his Stilt House, a 2-story wooden house where you can see the phone and books he once used. Then, pass by the One Pillar Pagoda built in a lotus pond. According to folklore, a childless emperor got a baby from the blooming lotus after praying at the temple. Afterward, visit the Temple of Literature, a classical Chinese-style building complex that is home to Vietnam's first university, the Imperial Academy.
In the afternoon, we’ll drive to the West Lake area and view one of the two religious sites: the Tran Quoc Pagoda, Hanoi’s oldest Buddhist temple, or the Taoist Quan Thanh Temple. Afterward, visit one of the two museums: the Museum of Ethnology, which shows the culture and history of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups; or the National Museum of History, featuring two exhibition buildings separately introducing Vietnam’s history from ancient times to the 19th century, and the modern revolutionary history.
At dusk, appreciate a Water Puppet Show, a traditional artwork that drew inspiration from the Red River Delta's rice farmers' amusements. Puppets are manipulated to perform on the pond, themed with fishing, rice cultivation, and myths. It’s admirable that the puppeteers stand waist-deep in the water throughout the performance, expertly manipulating the puppets, some of which even weigh as much as a watermelon! It’s said that it takes at least half a year for a puppeteer to become adept. As the puppets are small to see from the back seats, please book your tour as soon as possible, so we can scramble for a front seat for you. After the show, your guide and the driver will escort you back to your hotel.

Today, embark on a 2-day-1-night cruise in Ha Long Bay, one of Vietnam's most famous attractions! After breakfast, your private guide and the driver will accompany you on a 2.5-hour road trip to the Ha Long Bay pier, along which you’ll be smitten by the rural scenery of the Red River Delta. When the rice fields and banana groves outside the window gradually turn to mountains and seas, we’ll arrive at our destination. Then, you’ll board the cruise ship and enjoy a sumptuous lunch onboard. On the vast sea, thousands of limestone boulders of diverse shapes emerge from the sea, some like inverted funnels, and some resembling a thumb or an incense burner. Moreover, wildlife like antelopes, monkeys and quails are living carefree lives on these verdant islets and islands.Apart from the magnificent scenery of the main bay, you’ll also explore the nearby less-frequented areas. There are two cruise ships for you to choose one according to your preference: The five-star Indochine Cruise will escort you to the thousand-year-old Dark and Bright Cave in Lan Ha Bay. As large ships fail to pass through the cave due to its low ceiling, you’ll explore it by kayak or a rowboat. Admire the beautiful karst formations, and perhaps you’ll spot monkeys and upside-down sleeping bats! After that, return to the cruise ship and enjoy leisurely moments swimming or participating in the activities onboard, such as a fruit and vegetable carving class, board games, and squid fishing.
The four-star Signature Royal Cruise will escort you to Bai Tu Long Bay, where you can take a kayak or rowboat to visit the Vung Vieng Floating Village to get a glimpse of the water community life, and learn about superb fishing skills and pearl farming. After the tour, enjoy a Vietnamese cooking class, and other entertainments like night squid fishing and card games onboard. Day 7 Ho Chi Minh City Highlights
Visit Cu Chi Tunnels, War Remnants Museum, and Reunification Palace. (B+L)
This morning, your private guide will accompany you to explore the Cu Chi Tunnels, a 3-story underground base spanning around 250 kilometers (155 miles) long. During the Vietnam War, they were crucial in providing shelter for soldiers and civilians, delivering supplies, tending the injured, and laying traps. The tunnels are so narrow, and the entrances originally were only about 40*40 cm wide, but some have been widened to 40*70 cm for tourism, and your guide will accompany you to crawl inside to get a clear glimpse. This verdant land was heavily sprayed with defoliants by the US military, causing many locals to suffer poisoning and giving birth to disabled offspring, who now earn a living by making unique eggshell paintings at the nearby handicraft store.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit the War Remnants Museum to learn more about the brutal history of the Vietnam War and the First Indochina War (1946-1954), including the My Lai Massacre, through numerous battlefield photos and documents, as well as military equipment, including an F-5A fighter jet and an M48 Patton tank. Then, visit Reunification Palace, which was formerly South Vietnam's presidential residence. When a North Vietnamese tank breached the gate in 1975, Saigon was renamed "Ho Chi Minh City" to commemorate the country's reunification. After the visit, your guide and the driver will escort you back to the hotel.
► For Your Information: Night Cruise on the Saigon River (at your own expense)
The Saigon River, the city’s primary river, is lined with numerous landmarks, like the Bitexco Financial Tower and Landmark 81, and offers a serene ambiance at night. If interested, you can take a night cruise to enjoy some leisurely moments. The Saigon Princess provides a 2-hour cruise with dinner and a band show for roughly VND 800,000 (USD 30).

Day 8 Mekong Delta Full Day Trip to Ben Tre
A full-day guided trip to Mekong Delta: Ben Tre River tour by boat & visit fruit orchards, brick workshops, a coconut candy factory, drop by a villager’s home and explore scenic villages by local rickshaw "Xe Loi" or bicycle. (B+L)
★ Immerse Yourself in Mekong Delta Paradise
Today, an in-depth Mekong River tour reveals the indigenous life of the Mekong Delta! To ensure you take in the deeper tropical paradise, we’ll go with you on a selected route away from the hustle and bustle. After breakfast, enjoy a 2-hour scenic private drive to Ben Tre, an emerald on the Mekong River densely covered by water coconut trees, a treasure of the city. Board a private sampan boat at Hung Vuong Pier, savor some refreshing coconut juice we prepared, and cruise the meandering Ben Tre River, a tributary of the Mekong River. As the sunlight gently filters through the lush swaying leaves, it seems as if we are in the extraterrestrial realm of “Avatar”! En route, go ashore and pass by some fruit orchards to visit brick workshops and a coconut candy factory. We’ll also drop by a villager’s home to get a glimpse of local life, and learn about the manufacturing method of sedge mats while sampling prepared tea and tropical fruits. Many peasants here earn a living by producing the cool, breathable sedge mats that are necessary for people in Vietnam's tropical regions. Skilled craftsmen can produce about three to four mats per day, and each mat is sold for only VND 130,000 (USD 5). Therefore, nowadays it is mostly the elderly who are engaged in the production. Later, experience the distinct motorized tricycle "Xe Loi" or bicycle to take in the idyllic landscape, and maybe encounter old peasants weaving fishing nets or a small rowboat laden with mangoes drifting slowly from the depths of the mangrove forest.
At noon, have a hearty lunch at a riverside restaurant, and savor the fried elephant ear fish, a specialty of the region. As its name suggests, it resembles an elephant's ear, with thick flesh and few bones. While eating, enjoy “Don Ca Tai Tu”, a southern folk music with melodious tunes. After lunch, board a sampan cruise to continue exploring the narrow canals. Finally, we’ll return to Ben Tre and then drive back to Ho Chi Minh City.
