Major Stations Along Shenyang Metro Line 10
Tawan Street
From Exit D, walk west for about 10 minutes to reach the west gate of Tawan Historical and Cultural Park. Inside the park stands a pagoda over 1,000 years old, the oldest existing above-ground structure in Shenyang. Next to the pagoda is Huilong Temple, an ancient style structure with red walls, layered flying eaves, and a very peaceful courtyard. The Shengjing Stele Exhibition Hall in the park is also worth a visit. It collects centuries-old stone inscriptions from the 15th to the 20th century, like “history of Shenyang written in stone,” great for anyone who loves history or calligraphy to explore slowly.
Beita
This station is close to North Pagoda Park. After exiting from Exit C, walk west for about 5 minutes and you’ll arrive right at the park’s main gate. Across the park’s lawns and lake, you can see a white pagoda. After entering the park gate, a 5-minute walk brings you to Falun Temple, where you can admire the white pagoda up close. Built in 1643, this white pagoda is Shenyang’s best-preserved Tibetan-Buddhist-style stupa. It is inlaid with gilded ornaments, surrounded by the temple’s red walls, prayer flags, prayer wheels, and old cypress trees, creating a strong religious atmosphere.
Hundred Birds Park
Exits C and D lead directly into Hundred Birds Park. The park’s lakeside pavilion was built in 1939, a hexagonal pavilion standing by water with flying eaves, with a zigzag stone bridge not far away, making for an elegant view.
A 10-minute walk from Exit C brings you to Tanjingjiang Morning Market, open daily from 5:00 to 9:30. A must-try is big fried dough stick with soy milk. The stick sizzles in the pan and comes out golden and crispy, perfect with hot soy milk or tofu pudding, a classic Northeast morning-market combo. Freshly fried sweet red-bean pastries have a crisp, crumbly crust and warm sweet filling, best to be eaten hot.
Pangjiang Street
Pangjiang Street is an interchange between Subway Line 1 and Line 10. By Line 1 from this station, it takes about 5 minutes to Zhongjie Station and about 15 minutes to Taiyuan Street, both popular central business districts. From Exit B of this station, you step straight into Longzhimeng Shopping Center, a large mall convenient for shopping, dining, and entertainment.
University of Traditional Chinese Medicine
An interchange between Line 10 and Line 2. Transferring to Line 2 takes about 3–5 minutes; from there it’s about 25 minutes subway ride to the city center around Qingnian Street area, about 60 minutes to Taoxian Airport, and about 7 minutes to Shenyang North Railway Station.
Lilac Lake
This station sits next to Lilac Lake Park. The park has a wide lake, clean fine sandy beach, and stretches of reed beds. At dusk the lake often shimmers with light, glowing in golden-orange tones. After exiting from Exit C, a 5-minute walk brings you to the north gate of the park. Once inside, just turn right, walk along the shore, and you’ll arrive at the lake.
