- Kim YIt was truly remarkable, we enjoyed! We recently had the pleasure of taking the Beijing Mini Group Day Tour to Mutianyu Great Wall and the Forbidden City. This tour was truly remarkable and exceeded all my expectations. The Great Wall was even more impressive in person, and the Forbidden City was a fascinating glimpse into Chinese history. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure we had a wonderful time. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Beijing!

- LWAn amazing trip thanks to Wendy at TravelChinaGuide!I had wanted to take my mother to China for her 60th birthday celebration several years ago but was unable to do so due to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, I had done my research on China tour companies and Travel China Guide (TCG) was at the top of my list. When we recently learned that our favourite singer would be holding a concert in Beijing and that the 144-hour visa-free entry policy was made available to Canada, we made the spontaneous decision to go to Beijing. With only a few weeks to coordinate our travel, I was thankful that I had already done the research years before and contacted TCG immediately to organize a private tour. Our travel consultant, Wendy, was fantastic. She responded to our questions promptly and provided us with all the helpful information we needed. She even pointed out a change we needed to make to our flight itinerary in order to qualify for the 144-hour visa-free entry into China. Wendy also remained flexible in postponing our tour payment deadline and adjusting our tour itinerary as we worked out our flights. During our trip in Beijing, she checked in to make sure that everything was going well.
As for our tour guide, Tina, and driver, Mr. Xu, I could go on and on about how amazing they were, but I'll only share some highlights.?? They were both very professional and went above and beyond their duties. We were not able to get concert tickets before arriving in Beijing. Mr. Xu did the research on which app to use to buy the tickets and Tina successfully helped us to purchase them. On the night of the concert, Tina accompanied us to the Bird's Nest Stadium to make sure we were able to get into the concert and Mr. Xu waited until the concert was over to drive us back to our hotel even though that meant having to work very late. In the short week we spent together, it felt like we had been longtime friends with Tina and Mr. Xu.
In summary, our Beijing trip was even better than we had imagined. TCG made two of our dreams come true - climbing the Great Wall and seeing our favourite singer in concert - and they made our whole trip from start to finish very enjoyable. We made some of the happiest memories we'll cherish for the rest of our lives and this was in large part due to TCG. Thank you so much for your exceptional service, Travel China Guide! Overall, the trip was very informative, thanks to our guide, Ryan, who could speak superb English and was very knowledgeable. We got into Shanghai international airport and Martin was waiting at the gate with our name on a board, and the driver and car was waiting close by the doors.
Martin was excellent. Being the first city of our visit to China, we had lots of questions and he was very helpful. We discussed our next two days, and, at our request, didn’t go to the hotel first but we’re straight into things with a visit to the Shanghai Tower. The view from the top was awesome.
Martin helped us with planning a visit to the Yu gardens (which wasn’t on our itinerary ) and took us first to the hotel to drop our bags, then dropped us in the area of the Yu Gardens with a good plan on how to do things, get lunch, and get back to the hotel via a walk along the Bund.
We enjoyed Yu Gardens, had our first try at local food, and enjoyed the long walk back to the hotel along the river.
We wanted to go to an evening show, and on Martins advice went to Shanghai Circus World. Martin bought the tickets for us online, then turned up at the Hotel in the evening to help us get a Taxi (DiDi) and rode with us to the event. He was willing to wait for us outside to ensure we got back ok, but we had now learnt DiDi so we’re confident we could get back fine. The show was a lot of fun, quite spectacular, and we recommend it.
The next day Martin first took us to the French Concession area for a tour on foot, then drove us out to the Zhujiajia water town. This was a historic town, now mainly markets of food and art. Very interesting and we stayed a few hours exploring.
Martin then took us to a hotel that was at ‘the centre of Shanghai’, something that was not on our itinerary.
We then went to one of the Shanghai train stations to catch a bullet train to our next destination. Our tickets had been pre booked and linked to our passports, and we used our passports to get into the station, then (20 minutes prior to train departure) through the right gate and onto the train platform. The station was huge and impressive. The trains even more so, and run exactly on time. Martin saw us through right to the correct gate and waited until we had got through the gate. He was extremely helpful.
We enjoyed Shanghai. It’s modern, clean, spectacular at night, and certainly worth visit.
We highly recommend Martin as a tour guide. He did so much extra for us, and did everything he could to accomodate our wishes. His WeChat ID is wxid_0dreuo4qizt22 or ‘Martin0804’. Less
