Day 2 Chengdu
Giant Panda Base, Wide and Narrow Alley, Jinsha Site Museum. (B)

A giant panda munching on bamboos
This morning will be devoted to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda. It should be the first stop if you take China panda tours. It includes a fodder room, sleeping quarters, a medical station, research laboratories and a training center, all of which ensure pandas live in their home habitats to the largest extent. Here, you could appreciate the adorable pandas playing, eating bamboos and climbing trees in real life or even hold one if interested (holding fee is not included). Then you will be guided to the Wide and Narrow Alley, an ancient city alley with many tradtional courtyards. Some of courtyards have been coverted to restaurants, pubs, teahouses and stores.
Afterwards, you will be taken to visit the Jinsha Site Museum. This museum is built to protect and display the archaeological finds of Jinsha Site, which probably dates back to about 3,000 years ago. Enjoy the huge amount of exhibits and gain some insight into Chinese life and rituals at that time.

Take boat to appreciate the Giant Buddha, a sitting stone statue of Maitreya carved on a cliff at the confluence of Min River, Qingyi River and Dadu River. Measuring about 233-feet high, this Buddha with serious expression is the largest stone Buddha in the world whose carving work took about 90 years. Afterwards, you will travel to Mt. Day 4 Mt. Emei - Chengdu
Baoguo Temple, Wannian Temple on Mt. Emei. Drive back to Chengdu. (B+L)

Leshan Giant Buddha
The private itinerary today will focus on Mt. Emei itself and two renowned temples on it, Baoguo Temple and Wannian Temple. As one of the four most famous Buddhist mountains in China, Mt. Emei boasts temples and gathers Buddhist culture. In addition, owing to its majestic cliffs, deep valleys, flying waterfalls, sea cloud and verdant forests, the mountain has been reputed as 'a beauty spot under heaven' by Chinese people since ancient times. Situated at the foot of Mt. Emei, Baoguo Temple is the largest temple on Mt. Emei and known as the No.1 scenic spot on the mountain. It is a magnificent architecture complex with a succession of four temple halls, which are shaded with green pines and luxuriant cypresses. The exquisite pavilions and beautiful gardens can also be seen here. Wannian Temple is one of the oldest temples on Mt. Emei which houses rich Buddhist cultural relics.

Attention: According to the official news, the Wannian Cable Car running between the parking lot to the Wannian Temple in Mt. Emei is under renovating from Oct 28, 2017 to Apr 10, 2018. During this period, travelers have to make an average hike around one hour up to the temple. You may also choose to visit the Golden Summit instead to avoid the hiking. Your travel consultant will make the relevant arrangement according to your preference.

I'm looking at Flight direct to Chengdu on Asiana or Air China (ICN>CTU) stay for 3 days then CTU>HKG on Cathay Pacific - is this acceptable despite different airlines? Thanks :)
I am an Irish passport holder and live in South Korea. I wish to travel to Chengdu in China in February for approx 6 7 days. Please advise me on how to gain a visa for entry into China. Thank you
Shirley
I will be flying from Incheon South Korea to Chengdu (although I have yet to book a ticket, most flights are not direct and require a lay over) would this affect my 144 bhour visa free privileges in Chengdu?
Thank you,
Shirley
I see there are direct flights from Incheon to Chengdu, so you can arrange your route like Incheon - Chengdu - Macau - Incheon, so that you will be eligible for the 144h visa-free transit.
Little question.
Is it possible to do a round trip ( +/- 96 hours or 72 hours) from Amsterdam - Chengdu. Chengdu - Amsterdam whitout a Visa or transit visa? Tourist only.
Thank you
If you wish to retain this itinerary, you will have to obtain a Chinese tourist (L) visa. Of course, you can also rearrange your flight itinerary to become eligible. You can something like this:
Amsterdam - Chengdu - Hong Kong - Amsterdam
The above mentioned flight is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Chengdu area. Also, 72 hour visa free transit in Chengdu has been replaced by 144 hour visa free transit.
China Eastern qualifies for this.
When I go to China Eastern to look at their flights it lists Shanghai as a “transfer” point between CHG and LAX. I think I will be changing planes at Shanghai but not leaving leaving the airport through security.
Does this qualify for the 144 hour visa in Chengdu?
I’m pretty sure based on above that the answer is going to be “no”...
