6 Days Hainan Island Holiday

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and then accompany you on an hour-long drive to the Nanshan Temple, a Buddhist sanctuary sitting in the large Nanshan Culture Tourism Zone. For a more pleasant exploration, we’ll specially include a shuttle bus ride to convey you to the temple. There, you’ll marvel at both the endless South China Sea with fleecy white clouds drifting in the blue sky, and the solemn grandeur of the magnificent 108-meter (354-foot) statue of the Goddess of Mercy over the sea, the world’s largest one of its kind, reputedly capable of resisting Category 14 typhoons. Many airlines’ flights, when flying near the statue, happen to circle or turn above it. This is not just a strict aviation procedure necessitated by Sanya Airport’s location; it also reflects the heartfelt belief that doing so pays respect to the Goddess of Mercy and invokes blessings for a safe trip.

After a 1.5-hour car ride, let’s dive into the picturesque Luhuitou Scenic Area, literally meaning “Deer Turning Head”. With your guide, you’ll know that the name stems from a Li ethnic love legend: in ancient times, a young hunter chased a deer to the edge of a cliff at this very site. With no way to escape, the deer glanced back and transformed into a maiden. The hunter fell for her at first sight, and then they married and settled here. Take an electric car we’ve included for you, and we’ll reach the summit, one of the highest viewpoints in Sanya, where you can enjoy a fantastic bird’s eye view of the azure sea, neatly arranged skyscrapers, and bright skies. As the area is home to a free-roaming macaque colony, you’ll be highly likely to come across them along the way as well. At the end of the day, your guide and driver will escort you back to your hotel in roughly 45 minutes.

This morning, accompanied by your guide and driver, enjoy a comfortable 1.5-hour drive to Baoting and venture deep into Mount Qixian Hot Springs National Forest Park, celebrated as a natural oxygen bar for its extremely high concentration of negative oxygen ions that refresh both body and mind. Here, discover the unique wonders of the tropical rainforest, such as the Hanging Gardens, created when birds unwittingly carry orchid or fern seeds to the crowns of tall trees or hanging vines, allowing the plants to take root and grow in midair. However, if the seeds of lofty figs are planted, one will gradually strangle their hosts, letting you know the brutal side of the jungle law. Further inside, behold two towering trees sharing one root and intertwined trunks, worshiped by the Li people as the “Couple Trees”, a symbol of love guardian. As you climb higher and gaze into the distance, marvel at the seven peaks of Mount Qixian like seven sharp swords soaring straight to the sky. If you happen to encounter misty weather, you might also find them looking like fairies draped in gauze. 

After the visit, your guide and driver will escort you to your hotel just by the Forest Park. The hotel offers hot spring bathing, and if you’re interested, you can pay on site on your own to experience it to relieve fatigue.

1. Some sections in the park have nearly 90-degree deep steps, so please wear non-slip hiking shoes. 
2. With vicious mosquitoes in the rainforest, insect repellent is required. 
3. The entire hiking route takes approximately 4 to 6 hours. It’s better to bring high-protein snacks such as chocolate bars, nuts, and bananas to replenish your energy during the visit.

This morning, after meeting your guide and driver at your hotel lobby, embark on a 1.5-hour car ride to Wanning. Upon arrival, we’ll head to visit the Xinglong Tropical Garden, a private plant kingdom built by an Indonesian-Chinese returnee who invested his entire wealth of over $15 million. Surprisingly, he spent three decades transforming a piece of barren land into a globally acclaimed Champions of the Earth site. As you wander around the garden, you may feel like stepping into the untamed rainforest of Avatar: warm sunshine filters through towering trees, casting dappled light and shadow onto the leaf-blanketed paths. Sometimes, the pleasant birdsong and soft rustling of the wind drift into your ears. Embraced by rich greenery, admire colorful orchids growing on tree trunks, vibrant heliconia with boat-shaped bracts, and calliandra-like fiery red dandelions. Notice the sealing wax palms, which have their scarlet stems and pinnately compound leaves, shaped like flaming torches illuminating the entire rainforest. 

After that, your guide and driver will escort you to your hotel in Wanning for check-in. The rest of the day will be free for you.

► Recommended Free-Time Activities: 
Rest for a while and then walk to Shimei Bay, where you’ll see a crescent of silvery sand surrounded by verdant hills. Stroll along the shoreline to enjoy the soft, fine sand and clear waters, and appreciate the vast expanse of green tangerine peels formed over 4,000 years ago, which is one of just two such sites left in the world. Dusk is undoubtedly the most breathtaking moment here. Why not rest on a beach chair and watch the sun slowly sink below the horizon, dyeing the sky and sea in gorgeous hues of orange, pink, red, and purple? Or head to the Sea-Viewing Pavilion, a superb photo op, to capture this stunning scene.

Today, we won’t arrange any guided activities for you, leaving you a whole free day to do whatever you love. You can simply relax at the hotel to recharge, or go and discover some exciting water sports.
