Jiangling Village

Located in the northeast corner of Wuyuan County, Jiangling Village is a must-see on the east tour line of Wuyuan. Facing Xiaoqi Village to the south and Xitou Village to the east, Jiangling is a small peaceful village deep in a secluded mountain valley. Featuring immense terraces cascading from the hilltop to the bottom of the valley, and the breathtaking bright golden sea of rape flowers stretching to the horizon, Jiangling won Wuyuan the name of ‘China’s most beautiful village’. ‘Heaven on Earth’, a Hong Kong photographer’s masterpiece based on the scene of Jiangling, once won an international award, and made the village widely known and more popular among tourists.

Jiangling Village has a distinctive feature – terraces. There are numerous terraces located on the mountain slope. They are just like many ribbons surrounded by tile-roofed houses and streams. Houses and surrounding natural scenery reflect and complement each other. The juxtaposition of old trees, streams, farmhouses and crops embodies a feeling of closeness of humans and nature. Sometimes, wisps of smoke rise from farm houses make people feel peaceful. This typically rural scene in Jiangling Village is said by some to resemble heaven on the earth. In addition, as a representative work of the most beautiful village in China, it is also a popular place for taking photographs and making films.

Besides the many orderly yet irregular terraces, flowers are also an impressive part of this village scene. During March to April every year, abundant rape flowers cover all over terraces from the top to the bottom of the valley. There are two observation decks for visitors to enjoy the views and take pictures. When the weather is fine, it’s worth a climb to the top of the mountain from where the masses of flowers in the valley appear as great sea of yellow. It is little wonder that in spring great numbers of tourists and photographers come to admire the display and fragrance of the rape flowers.

Although the rape flower season only lasts for a month, Jiangling is considered an impressive scenic spot during autumn as well. There is another ocean of flowers that also attracts tourists’ eyes. August to October is the most appropriate time to enjoy the beautiful ocean of coreopsis, which marks the second tide of tourists swarming from all over China. When the weather is kind, the flower season can last until November.

After visiting this village, there are several scenic spots nearby, such as Placid Lake and Qingyuan Village. Placid Lake on the High Mountain is a particular scenic feature in this area. In the northern part of Wuyuan County, there are many high mountains and the rivers that run through them have big drops. The villagers take advantage of this landform and build dams to create quite large lakes. The lakes, mountains and villages are complementary to each other.

First built in 674 in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Qingyuan Village is located at Duanshen Town. It is cited as “Shangri-la” in this area famous for its beautiful natural scenery and exquisite ancient residences. Its advantageous geological location and high perennial vegetation coverage endow the whole village with moist climate, as well as pleasant scenery. Embraced by mountains from both the east and west, this village is just like a boat lying between two mountains. In the center of the village, there is an ancient maidenhair tree said to be 1,300 years old. Walking along the blue-stone path, tourists will see several bridges that traverse the river. Many pear and peach trees grow here. Each year when the trees are in bloom, the scenery is like an exquisite and amazing ink painting, which contains pure pear blossom, pink peach blossom, golden rape flowers and ink-colored roofs.

Bus to Jiangling village
Hi, I read that we can catch a bus from Wuyuan Laobei bus station or Wuyuan Railway station to the villages in East route. But I try on Baidu map they show only way to Huangling, and can not suggest any way to Jiangling.
Could someone advise me on this issue? Do the buses actually run? If yes, how can I search the map?
Thank you in advance!
