Questions & Answers on China Embassy in France
Asked by Terasa Holmes from FRANCE | Nov. 08, 2018 01:59Reply
British Citizens living in France but wanting to go to China
We have British passports but live in France. We would like to go to Hong Kong and China next July (2019). My son is married to a Chinese girl and they live in Hong Kong. We would like to visit them first and then go to China to meet the Chinese parents. Do we get a visa from France or do we get it from the UK? Do we book the flights first and then ask for it? Thank you. Terasa Holmes.

It's possible for you to apply from the CAVSC in France. If you can get an invitation letter, you don't need to provide the round trip air tickets and hotel reservation for the application.

Thank you for your reply. Am I right in thinking that a visa lasts for 6 months? If I am visiting China in July 2019 should I apply in January/February?

Usually, one is advised to make the application one month prior to the trip.

Alie, if you go to China for sightseeing purpose, first, you need to provide a filled-out application form, passport-style photo, your passport and its photocopy, residence permit in France, round trip air tickets and hotel reservation as well as other documents the consular officers consider necessary. Next, submit the application to the CVASC to apply for a Chinese tourist L type.
