Day 2 Beijing
Visit Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City including Treasure Gallery; enjoy an a la carte welcome lunch with authentic Peking Duck; continue to visit Yonghe Temple and Temple of Heaven; and watch the classic Peking Opera in the evening. (B+L)
Forbidden City
In the morning, start your tour in Beijing with strolling Tiananmen Square. From the square, proceed to the Forbidden City, the resplendent imperial palace complex where you can explore about the life of Ming and Qing (1368 - 1911) Chinese emperors. We won’t miss the Treasure Gallery, the treasure trove of the City

Around noon, we will arrange an a la carte welcome lunch (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) with Peking Duck at a famous restaurant.

After lunch, visit Yonghe Temple, the lamasery of the Qing government, and Temple of Heaven, an altar complex for the emperors to pray to Heaven for bumper harvest. In the latter, you will find not only awe-inspiring structures like the Circular Mound Altar, but also special sacrificial facilities not far away - a huge stove burning offerings to Heaven, along with a row of eight cauldron-shaped burners ordered by Emperor Xianfeng (reigned from 1850 to 1861 during the Qing Dynasty) to burn offerings to his eight predecessors.

This evening will find you at Liyuan Theatre enjoying a live Peking Opera Show. We will go behind the scenes earlier to watch artists painting stage make-up.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, A la carte welcome lunch
Day 3 Beijing
Visit Mutianyu Great Wall by round-trip cable car and toast for Great Wall challenge with red wine; drive by Olympic Bird's Nest; then take a rickshaw ride through Hutong alleys and visit a local family in a traditional courtyard house. (B)
Hutong Rickshaw Tour
Today's itinerary begins with a half-day visit to the Mutianyu Great Wall. A round-trip cable car is arranged for you to go up and down without efforts. You will set foot on the most picturesque section of the Great Wall of China, with a red wine toast to make you remember this moment for a life time.

The restaurants nearby are not the kind we’d like to take you to try, so we will let yourselves decide what to eat for lunch. It’s recommended you prepare some snacks beforehand.

Afterwards, we will return to central Beijing. En route, stay for a short while before the Olympic National Stadium, or Bird's Nest, to take photos. We will drive until arrival at Beijing’s old hutong area, for you to go on a rickshaw tour through hutong alleys and later pay a family visit.

Day 4 Beijing - Xi'an
Visit Panda Hall and Summer Palace; taste local flavors for lunch; fly to Xi'an and transfer to hotel. (B+L)
Today, continue your visit to Panda House in Beijing Zoo and then Summer Palace, an imperial summer retreat. The Palace is where to find the Seventeen-Arch Bridge, the longest among other thirty bridges here, which is splendid, and more so if the setting sun shines through its arches on a day around winter solstice.

At noon, we will provide a local-flavor lunch at a local restaurant. After that, your guide will transfer you to the airport to fly to Xi'an. At Xi’an’s airport, you will be met and sent to the local hotel by your guide.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, Local lunch
Accommodation: Crowne Plaza Xi'an
Day 5 Xi'an
Visit Terracotta Army and the discoverer’s home of the first terracotta warrior; have a unique experience to make your own mini clay warrior; continue to visit Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, and then enjoy dumpling dinner and Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show in the evening. (B+D)
Terracotta Army
Terracotta Army
The Terracotta Army - funeral objects of Emperor Qin Shi Huang (259 - 210 BC) garrisoned at his mausoleum - is the first stop of your tour in Xi’an. You will be awe-struck by life-size terracotta warriors and horses, as well as bronze weapons and chariots, evidence to the strong military power of the Qin Empire. Where the body of the Emperor lies is still uncertain, but - take a guess - he must have kept what he deemed precious by his side. For a drinker like him, it’s not impossible that archeologists will unearth a bingjian (ice cauldron) - the bronze refrigerator of ancient Chinese with ice taken from frozen rivers - in which wine used to be kept.

Out from the museum, let’s visit the house of the first discoverer of the Army in a nearby village. Then, a class in a workshop will teach you how to craft a mini clay soldier with the help of mold.

In the afternoon, proceed to the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda to learn the religious aspect of this historical city. This evening will be lit by a fantastic Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show with dumpling dinner.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, Dumpling dinner

Please note:
You will enjoy a free evening today if it’s a day in January, February, March and December, since the theater is usually not available at those times.
Day 6 Xi'an
Connect with local people at City Wall Park and learn to practice Tai Chi from a master, then visit City Wall; taste local flavors for lunch at Muslim Quarter; in the afternoon visit Great Mosque and Shaanxi History Museum. (B+L)
Cycling on the City Wall
City Wall Park is one of a few places in Xi’an to observe local life. You will be guided there and learn to do Tai Chi with a master in the morning. Tai Chi is a type of Chinese martial art widely-practiced to stabilize internal energy through slow, calming movements, while other types focus more on explosive force, speed, and agility. Go on to climb the Xi'an City Wall, on which you can have a leisurely walk, or a short yet fascinating bike ride (bike rental fee is not included in our price) .

This noon, dive into the Muslim Quarter to try local dishes for lunch, which it is particularly famous for. As the Great Mosque is located in an alley here, we will drop by it later. Next, enjoy some time at Shaanxi History Museum, a national-level treasure house to appreciate cultural relics.

Meals: Western buffet breakfast, Local lunch
Day 7 Xi'an - Chengdu
Take a high-speed train to Chengdu & transfer to hotel. (B)
In the morning, you will be transferred to the railway station for a 4-hour ride on bullet train to Chengdu. Your local guide will meet you upon your arrival and escort you to the hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free. Relax or hang around your lively neighborhoods.

Day 8 Chengdu
Visit Giant Panda Base, Wide and Narrow Alleys, and Jinsha Site Museum; taste local Gai Wan tea and see the Chinese matchmaking corner at Renmin Park. (B)
This morning, have a date with giant pandas when they are sporting and eating bamboo at Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. You are visiting literally national treasures for Chinese people - do you know that, if another country want to keep a giant panda, it must pay 500 thousand to 1 million US dollars to China every year? Now, at least 66 giant pandas are being admired in 19 countries, with Japan and US enjoying the most.

The tour then goes to the centuries-old Wide and Narrow Alley, where you may enjoy Sichuan cuisine or local snacks as lunch at your own expense. In the afternoon, we will move to the Jinsha Site Museum, whose historical relics will give you chills showing the existence of the lost Shu Kingdom that once thrived in Sichuan. Later, spend some leisure time at People’s Park.

Day 10 Shanghai
Visit Shanghai Museum and Yu Garden; enjoy an a la carte farewell lunch; have a panoramic view of the city skyline, and then explore the Bund with a Huangpu River cruise tour. (B+L)
This morning, we will first visit Shanghai Museum for you to understand the city, which is followed by a stroll through Yu Garden, a typical classical Chinese garden. Outside the garden is the traditional Yuyuan Bazaar, where you can browse for souvenirs or local specialties or taste local snacks.

Enjoy an a la carte farewell lunch (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) at a famous restaurant.

In the afternoon, let’s go up to the 52nd floor of Shanghai Tower to visit the bookstore above clouds, or Duo Yun Bookstore, where you can sit by window walls appreciating a commanding view of Shanghai’s most bustling region.
