Suzhou has long boasted many superior classical Chinese gardens, which combines buildings with natural scenery, water and rockery perfectly. It is a nice street lined with old traditional buildings, many souvenir shops and restaurants. Over there, our private guide will give you some free time to walk along this street and feel the old style Chinese market environment. You may try some local food at one of the restaurants. Then you will meet your guide at the designated time and have a night tour to the Garden of the Master of Nets. Upon arrival, you will be surprised by its ingenious gardening in a compact space. Day 2 Suzhou - Tongli - Suzhou
Tongli water town
Possessing gifted location, the tranquil water town of local residence is another highlight in this region. Today, we are driving to Tongli, a typical water town with waterways dividing the whole area into seven parts. Nearly all the residences in the town are facing the water. There are around 50 stone bridges connecting each separated islands, among which the Ternate Bridge crossing over three rivers is the most attractive sight. Additionally, you can also stop by elegant gardens, former residences of celebrities, and themed exhibitions in Tongli, such as Retreat and Reflection Garden, Chongben Hall, Jiayin Hall, and Wang Shao'ao Memorial Hall. Apart of sightseeing, you can taste local snacks along the Ming and Qing Street and Zhuhangdai Street. It is also brimmed with tea houses where not only can you take a sip of the fragrant tea, but also enjoy the Suzhou Pingtan - an oral art performance in Wu dialect.
After that, we will escort you back to Suzhou and then you will spend the rest of the day in Panmen Scenic Area. Over there, you could see the Ruiguang Pagoda, Panmen City Gate and Wumen Bridge. Shanghai 72hr or 144hr?
Hello,
I'm going to arrive at Shanghai airport at 6:35 on oct, 13th and I'm going to leave on oct, 16th at 1:10 am. Basically my stay is less than 72hr (if it is considered from 00:00 of oct 17th. ) . I was planning on visiting Suzhou. In order to do that do I have to apply for a 144hr visa exemption? Can I do that even if my stay would be of less than 72hr?
In that case do you suggest to do the online preapplication?
Moreover I don't have the eticket number for my flight from Shanghai. Will the booking reference be enough?
Thank you very much,
Cristina

You need to obtain the confirmation that includes the 16 digit ticket number. You should be able to contact the airline to obtain e-ticket receipt. As long as your route qualifies, Country A > Shanghai > Country B then you will be eligible for the transit without visa. Shanghai doesn't have a 72 hour option so as long as your stay is more than 24 hours then you will be given the 144 hour option. You are allowed to travel to Suzhou on the 144 hour option since its part of the Shanghai transit zone.

I just spoke with the airline and I was told that eticket numbers don't exist for their tickets. Would it be enough booking reference and seat confirmation?
Thank you

You can take a direct shuttle bus from the Suzhou Sports Center to the airport and it takes about CNY70 per person. The duration is about 3.5 hours and the bus operates from 1:00 to 20:00 with an interval about 1 hour.

From Shanghai to Suzhou, you can take bullet train from Shanghai Hongqiao Station to Suzhou Railway Station. Then you can take Bus Line 40 to Beiyuan Road and walk southwest about 250m to the Humble Administrator's Garden.
