Kunming Metro Line 1

Main Line: South Ring Road – University Town South

Branch Line: Chunrong Street – South Railway Station

Extending in the north-south direction, Kunming Metro Line 1 contains two parts now: Main Line and Branch Line. The Main Line connects South Ring Road and University Town South, including 18 stations. Passengers can easily arrive at South Railway Station by taking metro line 1. This part is linked with Kunming metro line 2 at South Ring Road Station. The two subway lines are used as one so that passengers do not need to transfer to another train if they intend to take line 2. The present combined route of line 1 and line 2 runs for around 75 minutes.

The Branch Line (Northeast Extension) started to serve the public in the end of 2016, stretching around 3.4 miles (5.5 kilometers). According to the long-term plan, the northwest extension of this line will open in December, 2017.

Ticket Fare

For different trips, the fare varies from CNY2 to CNY12.

Notes:
1. Children under 4 feet (1.3 meters) can enjoy free ride on the subway.
2. Paying with Kunming Transportation Card, passengers can enjoy 10% discount.

Travellling plan in Kunming in half day

I will arrive Changshui airport at 12.30 this saturday 10-Nov-2018. I plan to go to left luggage at railway station. Then go to Western hill, Yuantong temple and Jinbi square before come back to take the train to Lijiang at 23:00. May I ask you some questions.
1. How much time from airport to Railway station by subway?
2. How much time from Railway station to Western hill by subway?
3. Is it possible to come back to visit Yuantong temple before it close (should arrive the temple about 4-5 pm)?
4. Does subway line 1 extend to Jinbi square yet? If not, How to get to Jinbi square from Yuantong temple?

The travel time is about 70 minutes by subway from the airport to the railway station. Why not take the direct airport bus Route 6? The duration is just about 50 minutes.

It may take about 2.5 hours from the railway station to West Hill scenic area by subway and bus.

It is impossible to arrive at Yuantong Temple at 4 - 5 pm. You may get there by 7 pm if you take the bus.

No, it doesn't. You just need to take the bus No.4 at the Yuantong temple bus stop and get off at Jinmafang. Then walk about 4 minutes to the square.

I will arrive Kunming Air Port 11:00 PM , how to get to South Railway Station?

And plan take high speed train to DALI . Any advise Air port shuttle bus , Train time . Thank you

I’m afraid that you need to take s taxi to find a hotel first because no bus or train operated at that time. The departure time is from 06:24 to 21:43 with an interval about 30 minutes.

How long does it take to travel from Dongfeng Square to Kunming South Railway station?

Do we need to exit at Chungrong Street station to transfer to South Railway station?

You can take subway line 2 to South Ring Road and change to line 1 to the south station. It takes about 70mins.

Bus from Kunming south into town

I will be arriving after 11pm into South railway station. It appears the metro will have stopped already? Is there a bus I can take into downtown area? Or is taxi best option?

Sorry, but there is no public transportation is available at that time. Taxi is the only choice, and it costs around CN 80 to Downtown (Dongfeng Square).
