Forbidden City
Forbidden City
Our guide will give you a warm welcome in the arrival hall of Beijing Capital Airport according to the flight information you provided. You will get your first glimpse of this renowned oriental city on the way to your deluxe hotel. The rest of your day can be at leisure or your individual activities.

Dining is always an important part of travel experience. Don't miss your chance to try good and tasty local cuisine. We would like to recommend the Made in China restaurant, which is conveniently located inside the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The open-style kitchen here allows diners to see the whole cooking process through crystal clear glass. In addition to the crispy and tender Peking Roast Duck, it also has a broad selection of traditional local dishes, including Old Beijing Cha Chiang Mein Noodles, Beggar's Chicken, Pease Pudding, and so on. Another specialty is Goose Liver served with plum jam. This is a very popular dish and even considered by some as more delicious than French foi gras. The average cost is about CNY350-CNY400 per person for a meal. If you are interested in having dinner at this stylish restaurant, your guide can give you directions.

In the main today, we explore the cultural wonders to be found in the city center. After taking a stroll on Tiananmen Square, we will guide you to the Forbidden City, where you can feast your eyes on the building complex that is nearly 600 years old. Also known as the Palace Museum, it has a fine collection of valuable cultural relics. We include visit to the Treasure Gallery and Hall of Clocks for you as a bonus. After that we will take you to enjoy an extraordinary royal lunch at one of the city's most exclusive restaurants, Fangshan Restaurant in Beihai Park. This restaurant has inherited and regenerated the recipes created for the royal families of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912AD), so it can offer food that is similar to what the emperors ate in the past. The varieties of dishes served are delicate and palatable, and the waiters around you all wear traditional Qing Dynasty attire. So dinning here will be quite a different experience. In the afternoon we will show you the Temple of Heaven, which has been awarded the most remarkable ancient Chinese architecture. After the visit, we can either drive you back to the hotel or to an excellent restaurant for dinner. We can help you reserve seats at Na Jia Xiao Guan, which is a highly recommended restaurant offering superb cuisine and a fantastic ambience. It is said that the Crispy Prawns is a must for one to order. Also, if you want to try something spicy, you can order the Chicken with Walnuts. A meal here usually costs CNY150 per person, which is a good value for money. In order to leave you more time to enjoy the dinner at this featured restaurant, our guide will arrange everything for you before leaving with the driver. Please take a taxi back to the hotel after dinner.

Meals: American breakfast, Imperial lunch

We advise you to have a hearty breakfast at the hotel as you will need it for today's high-energy output. Our first stop is Mutianyu Great Wall, which is about 45 miles away from downtown area. Connecting Juyuguan Pass in the west and Gubeikou Great Wall in the east, Mutianyu with numerous watch towers and dangerous passes has been acclaimed as the quintessential section of the entire Great Wall. You will be amazed by the delightful view whatever the season. Around noon, we will take you to have an a la carte lunch at a local high-quality restaurant. As we continue, you will see the outstanding appearance of the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium) and Water Cube, which are new landmarks of the capital city since the successful 2008 Olympic Games. If you are still interested in Chinese dishes, we can drive you to Xuxian Lou, where salubrious and savory Zhejiang cuisine is offered. The must-order dishes are Deep-fried Marinated Dried Tofu Roll, Tung - Po Meat and West Lake Smoked Fish. It is surprising that this restaurant also offers authentic home-style European desserts. The average cost is CNY250-CNY300 per person. Take a taxi back to your hotel.

Day 4 Beijing
Summer Palace with boat, A la carte lunch, National Centre for the Performing Arts, Hutong Tour. (B+L)
Summer Palace
Summer Palace
We start today with a visit to the Summer Palace. As the grandest extant royal garden in our country, its natural Longevity Hill (Wanshou Shan) and Kunming Lake, together with the man-made halls, pavilions and corridors constitute unsurpassed scenery. We can take a pleasant boat trip on Kunming Lake to fully enjoy the landscape in warm weather. Lunch today will be served with an a la carte menu at a good local restaurant. To ensure that you enjoy real Chinese food, we select excellent restaurants for you, where you can select dishes that appeal to your taste and appetite. We will move on to the National Centre for the Performing Arts. Designed by the French architect Paul Andreu, this egg-shaped theater is a good example of modern architecture. Thereafter, let's get to the Hutong area, where you may immerse in the living culture of Beijing. An old-fashioned rickshaw ride through the narrow Hutong alleys is really a fun-filled experience for everyone. Would you like to relax a little this evening? If yes, we can take you to the Buffalo at Shichahai instead of driving back to the hotel. This restaurant not only has exquisite environment, but also provides western food, private home cuisine, various drinks and ice-creams. It costs about CNY200 per person for a meal. Again please take a taxi back to the hotel.
