Temperature 

Average Temperature: -2 to 10°C (28-50°F)

In November, the temperature drops significantly in low-altitude areas of Kashgar like Kashgar City. Generally, at the beginning of the month, the daily high can still reach above 15 degrees Celsius (59 degrees Fahrenheit), sometimes even approaching 20°C (68°F). By mid-month, this temperature drops to around 10°C (50°F). In the final days of the month, it may fall to only about 5°C (41°F). Daily lows gradually decrease from 5°C (41°F) to around 0°C (32°F), then to approximately -5°C (23°F) throughout the month.

The temperature drops rapidly in high-altitude areas. In the first days, the daily high hovers around 10°C (50°F), occasionally reaching 15°C (59°F). By mid-month, the daily high rapidly drops to around 5°C (41°F), then to approximately 0°C (32°F). By month’s end, this figure generally falls to between -5°C and 0°C (23-32°F). As for the daily low, it ranges from -5°C to 0°C (23-32°F) at the beginning of the month, and plummets to around -10°C (14°F) by the month’s end.

Precipitation

Precipitation across the entire Kashgar region is very low in November: In low-altitude areas, such as Kashgar City, a few rain or sleet occurs, which are generally light and short. There is basically no snow accumulation on the ground. In high-altitude areas, such as Taxkorgan, the number of precipitation days is a bit larger. Besides, these regions experience snow, predominantly light snow, rather than rain this month. Moderate to heavy snowfall may also occur, but infrequently.

Note that the weather of Kashgar is dry this month, caused by the low precipitation, and the humidity is about 53% on average.

Daylight Hours & Sunshine Hours

Entering winter, the daylight hours of Kashgar shorten greatly to about only 10 hours on average. In specific, at the beginning of the month, the daylight time can still reach about 10.5 hours from around 09:24 to 19:54; then, by the end of the month, it is only 9.5 hours from about 09:56 to 19:33. If you have many attractions in list but want to have a leisurely trip, it’s best that you extend your travel days. 

On the one hand, the short daylight time results in also short sunshine hours, which are about 6 on average per day; on the other hand, it brings not very strong UV rays.

Pros and Cons of Visiting Kashgar in November

Pros: 
1.    November is the off travel season in Kashgar, with very few tourists, allowing you to admire the most authentic side of cultural attractions like Kashgar Old Town and Id Kah Mosque at your wanted pace. Plus, hotel and flight prices are quite affordable this month.
2.    Visit Kashgar during the first a few days of the month, you can still see the beautiful golden poplar forests, the best autumn scenery of Kashgar.

Cons: 
1.    Kashgar during the slack season also has some drawbacks. For instance, some shops in attractions like Kashgar Old Town are closed. Additionally, some performances may be canceled during this period.
2.    Weather-wise, in addition to the cold climate of Kashgar in the second half month, heavy snowfall is expected in high-altitude areas. During this period, some scenic areas there and roads may be closed temporarily.

Overall, for travelers who enjoy lively atmospheres and dislike cold weather, it’s advisable to avoid visiting Kashgar in November, especially during the latter half of the month. However, for those who prefer tranquility, wish to save on expenses, and don’t mind low temperature, November presents a good time to travel there.
 

Packing List for Kashgar Trip in November

 For low-altitude areas: In the first half month, you can wear long-sleeved T-shirts and knitwear plus thick sweatpants or jeans in the daytime. At night, you are recommended to add windbreakers and long johns. In the second half month, you need to wear sweaters plus windbreakers in the daytime and wool sweaters plus 3-in-1 jackets in the nighttime for the upper, and sweatpants plus long johns and thermals, respectively, for daytime and nighttime.

 For high-altitude areas: In the daytime, you are advised to wear thermal shirts for the inner layer; and windproof and warm 3-in-1 jackets for the outer layer. As for the bottom, thick sweatpants plus thermal pants are suitable. When going out after sunset, you are recommended to put on sweaters plus down coats, paired with thermal outdoor pants.

 Shoes: Thick and comfortable flat shoes are OK for low-altitude areas of Kashgar, while warm and slip-resistant boots are ideal for high-altitude areas.

 Other accessories:
1.    Moisturizing skincare products such as moisturizing face cream and body lotion.

Tips for Kashgar Trip in November 2025

1.    Most indoor places begin to be served with heating since early November, including hotels. This leads to drier indoor air. Therefore, when booking hotels, it’s best to choose the one equipped with humidifiers, especially for travelers with nasal allergies.
2.    To wear suitable clothes and avoid days with heavy snow to visit the Pamir Plateau, you are advised to check the weather forecast in advance.
3.    As mentioned above, only a few shops are open at tourist attractions during this slack season, so it is recommended to pack some snacks in your carry-on bag just in case.
