I recommend Han yang Ling museum (Yang Mausoleum Han Dynasty) and Qian Mausoleum of Tang Dynaty. They are the two most prosperious periods in history of this city. FYI: Xianyang Travel Guide(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/shaanxi/xianyang/).

If your time is sufficient, I'd suggest you take trains. From beijing to xian is a 11 hours overnight train journey, and about 15 hours from if from shanghai.

Beijing is nearer to Xi'an ,but since the air fee is not expensive nowadays , it is better for u to come by airline ,since you don't speak Chinese .

The weather in Xi'an now is very good, about 22C during the day and 7C during the night.Maybe you can stay in the Belltower hotel, that's very good location, and about 450yuan per day.
