Day 1 Arrival in Beijing
Upon arrival, our guide and driver will meet you at Beijing Airport and then transfer you to check into the hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to get a first impression of the city.

Your 13 days' China vacation package starts with Tiananmen Square, where you can take pictures of the Tiananmen Tower, the Monument to the People's Heroes and Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao. Then we will proceed to visit Forbidden City, the largest and best-preserved ancient wooden palatial complex in China. More than millions of precious cultural relics are collected inside, and our guide will lead you to the Treasure Galley and Hall of Clocks to view the gold and silver wares, pearls and emerald, luxurious outfits, ivory carvings, elaborately-designed clocks and other articles belonging to the royal family.

At noon, you will have an a la carte lunch at a local restaurant and our guide will be very glad to give you some recommendations. Then you will be led to tour the Summer Palace - the largest and best-preserved royal garden in China. If weather permits, you will cruise on Kunming Lake to view the lush Longevity Hill with grandiose halls standing out, as well as lakeside gallery and elegant bridges. Then you will be guided to watch a Chinese Kung Fu show at Red Theater. After that, you may choose a restaurant to have dinner on your own.

Day 3 Beijing
Badaling Great Wall, Sacred Way, Peking Duck Dinner. (B+D)
Today's guided China holiday tour itinerary starts with Badaling Great Wall - an important military barrier in ancient times with 19 watchtowers distributed along the winding ramparts. Then you can have lunch at a nearby restaurant by yourself, based on your preferences. After lunch, our guide will accompany you to walk along the Sacred Way, which stretches for 7.3 kilometres (4.5 miles). You will see statues of animals, officials and generals on both sides of the path as well as grand arches. Later we will drive back to the hotel. At dinner time, you will get to taste a traditional dish - Beijing roast duck.

Day 4 Beijing - Luoyang

After breakfast, you will attend an one-hour Tai Chi class at the Temple of Heaven and our coach will teach you some basic moves. Then the guide will show you around the Temple of Heaven where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) worshipped Heaven and prayed for a bumper harvest. You will also learn about Heaven worship culture through all kinds of sacrificial vessels and musical instruments displayed in the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests and hear the interesting echo at the Echo Wall. After the visit, we will take a rickshaw ride along Hutong alleys to explore the old Beijing lifestyle. Then you will have a delicious a la carte lunch at a local restaurant. 

In the afternoon, you will be escorted to the high speed railway station to board the train for Luoyang. Enjoy the scenery along the way during the 4-hour ride. Upon arrival, our local guide will meet you at the exit of the train station and transfer you to the hotel for check-in.

Day 5 Luoyang

After breakfast, we will take a 2-hour ride to Shaolin Temple, known world-wide for its profound Buddhist culture and excellent Shaolin Kung Fu. Then you can have lunch at a nearby restaurant on your own. The afternoon itinerary commences with a 2-hour Chinese Kung Fu class in Dengfeng. Our guide will then escort you back to the hotel in Luoyang, and at dinner time, you are free to enjoy dinner yourself at a restaurant of your choice.

Day 6 Luoyang - Xian

In the morning, you will be guided to tour the Longmen Grottoes with 97,000 Buddhas enshrined in 2,345 niches on riverside cliffs, in the center of which the Vairocana Buddha, about half the size of the hill, is quite eye-catching. Afterwards, you will have lunch at your own expense, and then our guide will lead you to visit the White Horse Temple - the first Buddhist temple established by the government in 68 AD. At the end, you will be escorted to the high speed railway station for your onward train to Xian. Our local guide will pick you up at the railway station after your 1.5 hour train ride, and transfer you to the hotel for check in.

Day 7 Xian

The morning itinerary starts with a visit to the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum - a terracotta army buried with Emperor Qin Shi Huang (259 BC - 210 BC), and classified as an eighth wonder of the world. We will see about 8,000 life-sized pottery warriors and horses, as well as two bronze chariots unearthed in pits. 

After an a la carte lunch at Huaqing Aegean International Hot Spring Resort, we will head back downtown to tour the City Wall, which overlooks this ancient city and you can even ride a bike or take a battery car around the wall. Then you will be guided to visit Muslim Quarter with nearly 300 kinds of local snacks. In the evening, you will attend an imperial feast and watch Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Performance in Tang Yue Gong, before returning to the hotel.

Day 8 Xian - Chengdu
Provincial History Museum, Small Wild Goose Pagoda, A local family visit and home-cooked lunch. High-speed train to Chengdu. Railway station-hotel transfer. (B+L)
After breakfast, our guide will accompany you to visit Shaanxi History Museum, which houses a collection of more than 370,000 cultural relics throughout the ages. When touring the Small Wild Goose Pagoda built in 707AD, you will be able to feel its primitive simplicity. At noon, you will get to enjoy some hearty home-made food, courtesy of a local family, and learn to cook Chinese cuisine from the hostess. After lunch, our guide will escort you to the high speed railway station for your onward train to Chengdu. Upon arrival, the local guide will meet you at the exit of the railway station and then transfer you to the hotel for check-in.

Day 9 Chengdu

This morning, you will see the 71-meter-high (233-foot) Leshan Giant Buddha carved on a precipice overlooking the river. If your physical condition permits you, you can climb up the mountain to walk around the Buddha and see it from different angles and we will also take a boat to get a good panoramic view of the Buddha. After lunch at Leshan Old House Restaurant, we will return downtown to tour the bustling Jinli Ancient Street. Here, you can have a drink in one of the tea houses, cafes or bars, and eat Sichuan specialty snacks for dinner on your own.

Day 10 Chengdu - Shanghai

In the morning, our guide will accompany you to visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Here, you will get a glimpse of giant pandas living in a bamboo forest, eating bamboos, climbing trees and rolling on the ground. Then we will leave for the Wide and Narrow Alley to eat hot pot in Da Miao Hot Pot Restaurant, where even Michelle Obama, the former first lady of the US, dined. In the Wide and Narrow Alley, you can experience the local customs and life. Afterwards, you will be transferred to the airport and fly to Shanghai. Our guide in Shanghai will pick you up and help you to check into a downtown hotel.

Day 11 Shanghai
Shanghai World Financial Center, Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, A la carte lunch, Yuyuan Garden, the Bund, Huangpu River cruise, Era Acrobatic Show. (B+L)
The first spot in Shanghai is the World Financial Center - the fourth tallest building in China. Then you will be accompanied to see the Urban Planning Exhibition Center, where you can learn more about Shanghai's development through pictures, documents and models of the city. 

At noon, you will have a hearty lunch at Xian Qiang Fang Restaurant which resonates with a rich atmosphere of old Shanghai. After lunch, you will be able to tour Yuyuan Garden to appreciate the exquisite pavilions, rooms, and corridors and the ornamental rocks, trees, flowers, and ponds. The prosperous Yuyuan Garden Market selling a variety of handicrafts and local snacks is also not to be missed.

Then we will proceed to visit the Bund, known for its old buildings blending Chinese and Western architectural styles. Later we will take a cruise along Huangpu River to appreciate the scenic views on both sides. After that, our guide will transfer you to watch the ERA Acrobatic Show.

Day 12 Shanghai

After breakfast, we will drive to Nanxun Water Town with profound culture and beautiful natural scenery. Our guide will lead you to tour some major attractions inside including Little Lotus Garden, One-Hundred Residential Houses, Jia Ye Tang Library, Chongde House, Zhang Shiming's Former Residence and Zhang Jingjiang's Former Residence. If weather permits, you can see the wedding held above the water and take a relaxing boat ride to enjoy the scenery. And you can have lunch at a restaurant on your own. Afterwards, you will be escorted back to the hotel.
